To me he is the only one that offers us some width and his dribbling is breaking the defensive line and I thought his crossing was good.

It is his misunderstanding with Downing that is causing issues.

He's the same whether downing plays or not. I can see the reason why he doesn't get in the spanish squad. he is a good lad and I like him a lot. but I think his running up the flank all the time gets him recognised by fans and they can see him making the effort (whereas Hendersons or Spearings work can go unnoticed), yet it covers some of his negatives like the fact he panics within 30 yards of goal. his shots at goal this season barring one volley are awful. there are a host of better left backs in an attacking sense, yet overall I wouldn't swop him. as the team gets better, I think and hope he will.

Carroll has done well with pretty limited service in terms of crossing.

Spearing and Henderson have also done pretty well.

Does anyone else think Enrique looks like he's almost too respectful of Silva?

We are judging ourselves against City there and we aren't doing insignificantly at all. I think we can take a lot of heart from that first half even if we lose that match.

Last few goals against us have been very disappointing.

Blackburn - Adam OG
Fulham - Pepe blunder
City Home - Corner

and then tonights.

We have played pretty well, if we can get the next goal then we've a decent chance.

Silva is a cracking player but we are giving him too much room to do his stuff.

I think that people are again going over the top in their critisism of Downing, yes he's done som bad things but he has also done some good things, people are just focusing on the negative thinsg he's done.

Downing offers very little - no real width of any note from him and I was never confident that he would score when he was clean through. That said if he had managed to score and Pepe doesn't blunder then I think we'd be sat here at half time a lot happier.

We've actually played well. Carroll has looked good.

I think that's the problem, everyone (including himself) would've been in complete shock if he scored.
