Pepe seems to have got off pretty lightly with what was a big **** up for possibly the pivotal moment of the game. It moved a lot in the air but it was a really poor effort to try and punch that ball.

Very true. Every fan seems to see the problem and I think Kenny was starting to notice around the time he started putting Carroll on the bench. Unfortunately with Suarez and Lucas out now its a problem he is going to have to fix in January. I want Kenny to succeed very badly but unless he starts putting out players who suit our style of play then he is not going to succeed.

The problem is that half of those that he would like to start are either unavailable or still not ready for 90 minutes.

Sounds like he wanted us to appeal but the club didn't want to risk looking like a racist club so they caved in to the FA.

Totally a decision made by FSG by the look of it. The player and the manager didn't had any say on it in the end.

Bellamy cant start every match for a start its clear his knees dont allow him to do this

That system also puts a HUGE amount of pressure on your defensive midfielder

Yesterdays game really highlighted a few things for me.

First off, and unlike many, I thought Carroll did well. He linked up fine with other players was involved in many of our chances and one some good headers against a big City defense. I have changed my feeling from Carroll not quite being there, to the fact that he simply doesn't get proper supplied in the area. Kuyt did nothing yesterday, Downing was so-so and when Bellamy came on he was more lively but made very poor crosses.

Gerrard is just simply fantastic, by far our best players in all aspects it seems. He is just in the right space so often, makes brilliant passes and he alone takes our team in to another bracket. Adam while a decent player is just nowhere near good enough to replace him.

Spearing while doing a good job defensively needs to add more to his game to be a permanent solution for the DM. And while he can't do much about it you can see he has problems coming up against big strong opponents.

Other than that.... the result didn't justify the way we played. We deserved something closer to a draw, and we really need to get more clinical and soon. We are still well in to get 4th, but we can't keep that hope alive if we don't soon start winning some more matches and scoring more goals.

And lastly tip of the hat for Kompany and Yaya, they are fantastic players. Kompany controls the defense so well, and Yaya is just everywhere and will be missed a lot when going to ACN

Like Kenny says also not saying we deserved to win, but, there 2nd goal you could make a case that the ball moved very irregularly in the Air and was changed almost immediately afterwards, it seemed to drop like a stone in the air last minute and there 3rd goal was harsh in the extreme, for me looked like a blatant dive.

So proper ball on, and no ref mistakes its 1-0 away against 10 men with 20 minutes to go

But hey it happens and we were not clinical in front of goal nor did we put the ball into the box with any degree of regularity or danger which when you are playing a player like Carroll up front just is a compete waste of everybodies time
