I've not read the rest but here's my take on today.
Kenny got it wrong. Then got it wrong all over again by not realising he got it wrong and so not changing it.
The formation was abysmal. Crouch is a slow and ageing forward. Skrtel looked after him excellently and the other 2 centre halves had nothing to do. I could have played in that 3 this afternoon and had a nice day out, just as Carra and Coates had.
Why did Crouch need 3 centre halves on him? Ludicrous.
Then the wing backs didn't really get forward. I felt sorry for our lads today because so many times they got the ball, looked for the forward pass, but there was no wide outlet, there was only Kuyt ahead of them, and everybody else was behind the ball.
So they had to check themselves and go backwards. No wonder we were slow.
It almost looked like rugby at times. Everyone waiting to receive a pass behind the ball.
On top of that, when we did get forward we almost never had more than 2 in the box, and usually less than that. Only at set pieces did we have red shirts in there.
Utterly abysmal. The only consolation is that negative and baffling way of playing (at home I'll remind you) bore no fruit. I hope never to see it again.
Why Kenny couldn't spot that we needed a bit of a wide outlet but didn't need 5 defenders is beyond me.
Fine, Stoke came and got everyone behind the ball. But then so did we! The end result is that we had one shot on target in the entire game, and even that was a feeble effort from distance by Henderson.
Utterly pitiful, and while I'm usually one to defend Kenny, he got it worryingly wrong today, and even more worrying was his failure to change it.

You actually suggest keeping Roy on would have been a better option though :
