He seemed to believe that Richards knew what he was doing when he flew into the block with his arms up like that.

Anyway, I'm not complaining, though I probably would be if the same thing had gone against us
I think it was a poor reffing decision myself, which makes it all the sweeter. Not only that, the interception was perfect and the ball was looping well over the bar. Great defending

I think deliberately used his hands to make himself bigger when blocking the shot. Obviously he didn't plan on it hitting his hand after his foot but his arms were there with the intention of making it more likely he blocked the shot. Handball and pen for me.

                An Arbitrary Date
Now, Mediawatch enjoys chuckling at Liverpool as much as the next man, but even we were annoyed at the two-page splash in The Sun this morning.

'KOP FLOPS HAVEN'T BEEN TO THE NEW WEMBLEY' blarts their headline, pointing out that the Scousers haven't been to the old place since 1996.

While factually accurate, Paul Jiggins goes on to paint this as final proof that the team are a useless bunch of cloggers who may as well have been punching themselves in the face for all the use the last 16 years of exertions have done them.

'It is the statistic that embarrasses Liverpool,' writes Paul Jiggins.

'The humiliating fact that shows just how far the Kop giants have slipped from their once lofty perch. Once upon a time, Liverpool would have considered Wembley a second home. But the brutal truth is the club have not been to the home of English football ONCE since the new stadium opened in 2007.

                'So far, 60 teams have.'

Let's start with that final claim. While we can't be bothered to count if there are indeed 60 teams that have been to Wembley since it opened in 2007, what we do know is that, in the finals and semi-finals of the FA Cup, League Cup and the Community Shield, 14 teams have played at the new Wembley. Presumably the other 46 were from assorted play-off finals and Johnstone's Paint Trophy games, so it seems churlish at best to have a dig at Liverpool for not qualifying for the finals of competitions they were not eligible to enter. Indeed, if they had played in the JPT final, that really would 'embarrass' Liverpool.

In any case, surely 'playing at Wembley' is an utterly arbitrary method of judging a team's success or otherwise. Since they appeared at the old stadium in 1996, Liverpool have been in seven domestic finals, winning six and losing one. Oh, and there were of course the two Champions League and one UEFA Cup finals.

So yeah, it's that statistic that really embarrasses Liverpool, eh chaps?

Sky were mentioning "not-since-1996" in a complimentary way in that finally Liverpool are back where they belong and football is better for it. I took it that way anyway.

Nah, it was just more sensationalist deliberately misleading bull**** to suit their agenda.
                    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

One of my favourite parts was seeing Carrol coming on and taking drinks from 2 bottles of various energy liquids to prepare his body for a grueling 4min. He was in the zone.
