slept on the match and although we won a trophy some of the football from us was dire. at no point did we open them up and they got their tactics spot on.

some of our lads just didnt turn up and it does raise some questions about mentality. however, in their defence lets face it this is definitely not a team of winners. only carra and stevie have a proper winners pedigree and then reina, agger, suaeez possibly and kuyt have played in any finals.

the vast majority of the team dont know what its like to win anything. johnson, enrique, skrtel, henderson, adam, bellamy, carroll, downing probably have won two or three. honours between them.

on that basis we cant be too surprised that some of the lads were really nervous and didnt perform. additionally, every single final that weve won over the last ten or eleven years has been a recipe for heart attacks. modern day liverpool fc and finals are like rollercoasters.

hopefully, the lads will push on from this having won something and put in a good show for the rest of the season.

EDIT:it wasnt even a poor performance anyway,I thought in my admittedly drunken haze that we battered them and the stats seem to back that up>we aren't perfect but we'll get there

Won the one we should have lost and lost the one we should have won.

unlike yesterday we were carried through [istanbul] a poor team performance by a few outstanding players who put in a super human performance. stevie, jamie, jerzy and didi put in a shift plus overtime and dragged the others behind them. we beat a team who were full of world class stars.

the leaders were no where to be seen yesterday. we struggled to match a decent championship side. yes, we are all glad we won the cup, but this needs to be where we leave mediocrity behind and players who hide have no place in our team.

I think that people are being overly harsh and thinking that we should have won more comfortably as it was a Championship side we were up against, but there are no easy cup finals and Cardiff were there on merit and it was the game of a lifetime for most of them.

Look at all our cup finals since 2000:
2001 League Cup vs Birmingham - won on penalties
2001 FA Cup vs Arsenal - turned around in last 10 mins
2001 UEFA Cup vs Alaves - won late in extra time
2003 League Cup vs Man Utd - won in normal time
2005 League Cup vs Chelsea - lost in extra time
2005 Champions League vs AC Milan - won on penalties
2006 FA Cup vs West Ham - won on penalties
2007 Champions League vs AC Milan - lost in normal time
2012 League Cup vs Cardiff - won on penalties

Of those 9 finals only 1 has been close to comfortable the Man Utd one in 2003 and we only got the second goal in that game 10 mins before the end. There were some good teams in there who struggled against teams that on paper they should beat, the situation plays a big part in this and some of our players struggled to deal with that. We need to get used to playing in big matches and that is something that (most of) this group of players haven't experienced before.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think they both deeply care for each other.

Kenny was Bellamy's idol while he was growing up and Kenny got to love a player with heart and soul as Bellamy.
