If Suarez could finish as clinically as RVP, he'd be the outstanding talent in Europe, let alone the Premier League.

That game was very, very annoying. We are a wasteful team and I wasted another afternoon getting agitated by mediocrity. In many ways, this was the most infuriating game of the season because Arsenal offered nothing and we had so many chances to win the game.

Can't disagree with anyone who has said he have invested wrongly.

This was the sort of result I find difficult to take - it backs up all the fears I had about the investment and the Carling Cup win. A cup win that masks the massive deficiencies we have. Such a shame.

          I thought the same.

His corner kick and free kick delivery was poor, couldn't spot Hendo on the right 2, 3 times when he had acres of space and he just couldn't stop with "Hollywood" long range passing that led to absolutely nothing.

Theirs is zero with a goalscorer!

Just shows how bad we are at actually putting the ball in the net. The defence is decent.

When a player doesn't make it here and their price is sky high when it shouldn't be, I look to the dugout and the Directors Box.

It's a tough one to call whether patience would be afforded because of the price tag because there are so many factors to consider. You could use Adam as an example and say that he's alright because we only paid £7m and he's not world class, but he was great for Blackpool and would be a good squad player to have.

The fee paid warps the fans expectations and assessment of their ability. If we had paid half the fees we had for Downing and Carroll they would still be the same players but they wouldn't have had the same amount of stick IMO.

Whether they are good enough is a seperate arguement entirely...
              Both fair comments.

Just a trail of thought I was following.

To be fair to Adam he has contributed to the cause, the other two's contribution has been negligible. However opinion is changing (as Carroll gets games and Downing realises theres a major England tournament in the summer), Adam recently has been getting more stick.

There was a moment in the game when Adam had the ball and if he looked to his right, Henderson was free from the left full back. Instead, he turned left and got fouled.

                    Criminal moment.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I jumped out of the chair in frustration at that moment. He's done similair several times this season. Bad decisions.

For the record Adam frustrates me personally more than either of the others.

Good performance in part, bad bad result.

I made the point in the Carling Cup post-match thread that the thought of Adam being relieved of his defensive duties so he can concentrate on the attack is laughable as he just ins't good enough, and today he provided more ample evidence of how average-to-poor he is on the offensive side of the game; poor passing and absolutely terrible decision making. His relatively small transfer fee is no excuse either as we cound have had Shelvey and not forked out the £7m.

Defensively, terrible from Carragher for both goals. After not getting on when we were 3 up vs. Wolves I can't see Coates getting any time at the expense of Carragher, so it looks like we're lumbered with it.

What we need is a latter-day Bob Paisley to sort this bollocks out.

How one earth do you work that out?

Every top player wants to play in the Champions League and we can only progress as a club if we bring in players of better quality than we already have. We may even lose some of the best players we have next season due to not qualifying for the CL.

The Carling Cup was a good day and all, but lets not kid ourselves, its not going to move this club in the right direction.
