I suspect the decision about the manager has already being made for the close season. Doubt even an FA Cup will change that.

Flannagan's lack of courage was part of what cost us a goal though. He didn't show determination for a ball he should have won.

Gerrard off Suarez isn't working, because Suarez drops in to the same space.

A Shelvey, Henderson axis doesn't work - it's not balanced, it's not competitive and both are too similar; Shelvey's want to get forward and positional naivety is leaving Henderson isolated.

Our inability to press the ball is making Villa look decent, Heskey dangerous and Ireland a world beater.

For the goal, the delivery could (maybe should) have been stopped, Doni needed a firmer hand and a midfielder - Henderson going by position - should have picked up their goalscorer. Will need to see a replay.

Our biggest problem is our zero threat upfront and we're reliant on Kuyt darting from the right flank to get in to the box.

It's up to Aston Villa to decide whether to shut up shop completely and absorb everything or still try and counter us.

Everytime I saw Heskey with the ball near the penalty box, I had to minimise my stream. He will not score today. He must not score.

I would have dropped Luis and played Bellamy with Carroll. When you're struggling for confidence, you do the basics. Luis is a great flair player, but when its not working he is a liability. he gives the ball away so easily with **** flicks and one twos. we don't retain the ball.

with carroll as a focal point, you go a little more direct. we just need a win from somewhere. an ugly win will do. you don't try out passing the other team off the park in our current predicament.
