I'd like to see Maxi and Sterling on the pitch at the same time - doesn't seem massively likely though. Shelvey probably deserves a start, for his attitude as much as anything.

Is Aurelio fit? If so I might give him a chance to play DM.

Despite my desire to see a bunch of fringe players get a run out I do hope we take the game seriously. Not that it has helped us in recent weeks mind.

I'd definitely have one eye on Saturday and play some squad players tonight. It won't happen but something like:

I think Dalglish has a similar mindset; going by the radio this morning I think Gerrard and Suarez will be rested.

I would be tempted to give Johnson and Agger some minutes, preferably from the start to get them ready for Saturday. I'd even like to see Robinson in at left-back if Agger was to return.
