There are variations regarding finishers.
Jermaine Defoe would have been enough.
People smirking at Darren Bent in Jan.. Based on what we've seen so far, he'd have been another decent addition..

I must admit I waivered over himOriginally posted by Phoenix06 View PostI slated Jelavic when we were linked with him, so I'm going to keep shut on that one. Made me eat my words so far. Looks a different player technically compared to his time at Rangers (in my opinion) of course.
It would have been a gamble but for £6 or 7 million it looks a good one
Even a short term move it would have been a good signing, buy him and then look for better in the summer. Then keep Jelavic as back upLast edited by Lecter; 22-04-12, 07:41 PM.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Nah, he is doing the exact same job as he was doing at Rangers - scoring goals. He was scoring all sorts, headers, tap ins, over head kicks, a similar player to say Lineker (not much activity out of the box). I saw a lot of him and he looked a good player then and is continuing to score goals now. The only reason people assumed hevwasnt good enough was because he was playing for Rangers. I'm sure if we were interested in him when he was at Rapid Vienna it would have been a different storyOriginally posted by Phoenix06 View PostI slated Jelavic when we were linked with him, so I'm going to keep shut on that one. 30 goals in 45 games for Rangers, 6 in 9 for Everton - an excellent signing.Modifying post.

Hodgson said: "It really was a magnificent rearguard action and the other great satisfaction for me today, of course, was the support I got from both sets of fans.
"I was a bit concerned coming back here. Everyone said ’you’ll get a decent reception’ and I was really pleased they treated me so well.
"Obviously I didn’t repay them too well by coming away with a victory but it was nice that both sets of fans today gave me the reception that I was really rather hoping for."
He added: "They piled on the pressure, especially in the second half.
"It was a hard-working, really gritty performance at this stage of season, where we don’t have quite so much to play for. I’ve got to be really proud of the team."

Kenny Dalglish insists that Liverpool are not getting the breaks they deserve in the Premier League.
The Reds’ boss, speaking after a 12th defeat of the season in the competition, is sure that his team are moving in the right direction and claims there is nothing drastically wrong with what they are doing.
But their latest loss, a 1-0 home defeat to West Brom, leaves them 37 points adrift of league leaders Man United, and more worryingly 16 points behind fourth-placed Newcastle.
“It is hard, but it is a great credit to [the players] that they keep persevering and keep pushing on,” Dalglish said.
“We’re not trying to say that we’re happy with what is going on but equally there is nothing drastically wrong with what we have done.
“We’ve just not got the points that we deserved and I sound repetitive but I think it is pretty accurate.
