In Ipswich's first season back in the Prem, they knocked it around with real style under George Burley before being horribly exposed in their 2nd season.

Rodgers just strikes me as far too big a gamble. We shouldn't be gambling, we should be going for the safest ****ing bet we can find.

Firstly, we're getting excited by Talk****e. Secondly, if any remnance of truth, then why on earth would LGV and Klopp work? I'd rather have one or the other as manager than have both p*ssed off with each other and set us back further.

Thats how the mackems beat them last year. They sat back, let them pass it about in front of them for a gazillion passes and then smashed them on the break.

I reckon Swansea will struggle next year and can't see any difference between what Rodgers will bring and what we already had in Kenny

The only acceptable way of getting rid off Kenny is to bring in someone who is much better than him. By that I mean someone with real pedigree, in Europe and with winning trophies.

Bringing in a manager who has not proved themselve at the highest level is too much of a gamble given the position we are in (ie, rebuilding) and with that being the case I'd have rather we stuck with the Kenny. Having got rid, you would like to think we had at least sounded out someone decent. Who knows, its all rumour and conjecture from here, but Martinez or Rogers don't float my boat.

Which is a fair point, but Swansea can't afford a Rooney/Ronaldo/Suarez/Messi type of player to perform some magic when the oppo's have worked you out.

The Mackems parking the bus against a team like Swansea says more about Sunderland's ambitions than it does of the Swans.

For the budget he's worked on Rodgers has done the right things. Much like Rafa at Liverpool Rodgers needs/needed extra money to get the X-Factor players to take the next step. The one thing that can propel Rodgers is if he finds a Pape Cisse type bargain from somewhere.

Which is why out of all the 'new' unproven managers I would want Lambert at least he can mix it up and has a Champions league Medal to his credit to.

I think the point is that while his footballing philosphy is comendable his inability to switch his teams style of play when it's not working is a concern. I'm not a fan of rampant Pulisisation of a teams plan but if the guile and finesse route is failing then sometimes you need to change things up. I've not watched much of Swansea but when i have he has failed in the main to achieve this.

And I think you're being quite generous to the Mackems there too

Van Gaal wants Reds manager's job

Louis van Gaal has told Liverpool that he is looking for a management role, rather than a position as a director of football, as his next job.

Van Gaal has been strongly linked with the vacant management position at Anfield, although the club's owners are believed to have identified the experienced Dutchman as the ideal candidate to be the Reds' new director of football, rather than the straight replacement for recently sacked Kenny Dalglish.

Liverpool reportedly plan to appoint a younger man to be in charge of coaching and day-to-day affairs under the more senior director of football.

But the 60-year-old may have thrown a spanner in the works by revealing he would prefer to return to football as a manager - although he also acknowledged that the right project could tempt him to reconsider matters.

"My fingers are itching. I'm full of fire and want to work with players," Van Gaal said, according to the ***. "I get dozens of offers but I'm waiting for the best one."

Wigan's Roberto Martinez is believed to be a strong contender for the manager's position, but Andre Villas-Boas' chances appear to have taken a hit according to widespread reports.

He hasn't even got a budget for a Heskey/Zamora type player. So that route wasn't available to him either this season. Maybe he'll consider it for next.

Anyway, moot point as I would also be upset if he became our manager.
