Of course it does. I can't speak for everyone but during Hodgson's time here, I didn't buy the shirt, I didn't get time off work to go to matches and I'm sure it was the same for plenty of others. We also missed out on Europe despite Kenny's run at the end of the season.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostThey might. Uproar doesn't cost money in the scheme of things.
Its sad to say but if we finish lower in the league and turn out dross performances then we will get less bums on seats. There would be no need to build a new stadium #ConspiracyVive la France

No it isn't. It's separate and ****. If Roy had been more successful, he wouldn't have been sacked so soon and they wouldn't have paid him off like they did. So the uproar at his appointment didn't cost them money, in the same way fans being unhappy about Martinez wouldn't.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post
However being bottom of the league was due to the appointment.
Its a circle of ****

Finding the anti-Martinez arguments to be the height of irrationality. How does Wigan, ****ing Wigan!'s performance in the table reflect Martinez's future performance with financial backing, world class players and a long term contract? It's hilarious to me that we finish 8th and the players have let Kenny down, but Martinez is responsible for every aspect of Wigan's performance on the pitch. If you gave Mario Andretti a Ford Taurus and me a Ferrari, who would win the race? Me! Am I a better driver than Mario Andretti? **** no. My point is that Roberto Martinez has as much of a chance to win with our side as anyone else because our team is soooo much better than Wigan. The fact that they are facing relegation each year are not because of the manager's tactics, it's because the economics of football are well beyond the club. They don't have the tools to compete. And yet, despite that, Martinez had them playing good football and kept them up.
If he had been managing Barca's players for the past five years, you'd think he was the greatest ever. But he's been stuck at ****ing Wigan and somehow the fact that they don't have world class players is his fault.
He is not my first choice, AVB is, but I am more than willing to give him a ****ing chance and not assume we're going to be Wigan from now on. Past performance is no indication of future results, especially given how many factors influence football results.... Players being the most important.
Maybe I need a break... This thread is doing my head in...Last edited by BrooklynRed; 24-05-12, 09:07 PM."Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr

The stuff not in bold isn't relevant to the point, but re the bold stuff, I very much doubt that revenues dropped significantly because Roy was named manager. They probably dropped when we were ****, but that is a different issue. We do not know that Martinez would be ****.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostOf course it does. Not sure what you're refering to as bull****.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostBut it is complete bull**** to suggest that appointing Martinez results in us being a mediocre club like Villa. Firstly, you're assuming he'd do badly, which isn't a given, we have a better squad then teams like Villa, and i expect we'll spend Significantly more on players than them also.
The point I am making, which looks like you have missed, is that he won't have the luxury of bedding in. It seems that many LFC fans would prefer Benitez or another proven manager at the highest level who has guided teams to championships or European success.
If Liverpool are in the bottom half of the table after 10-15 games it will be Hodgson all over.-----------------------------------------------

Fans being unhappy at the appointment won't be a massive concern for them as it doesn't cost them money. The manager being **** would, but seeing as that isn't the forgone conclusion that many are suggesting, the fan reaction will be secondary to them compared to appointing who they think is the best available option. It's not that complicated mate.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post
