I'm clinging onto the hope that he said 'declined the current opportunity to speak to the Anfield club about the vacant position'.

Although that maybe me twisting sentence configuration to suit my own "agenda".

If Van Gaal wants to get back into management why on earth don't FSG at least consider giving him the manager's job rather than the DOF role ?? His age ?

there is no doubting lvg's knowledge and influence in a team, but hes a prickly ****er that will not tolerate dick heads. he might turn into a media embarrassment so fsg will want him out of the media. he will probably work with martinez to develop coaching tactics, and in all probability, martinez will become a very successful manager in his own right having been groomed by lvg.

You are judging Martinez before he has even been appointed. Surely that's an opinion rather than based on fact..

I don't think I've ever passed my opinion as fact?

I've said I have reservations about his appointment (if it happens) and that this is a critical decision at a key time for FSG. I can only judge Martinez on what I've seen of Wigan and their league form; I don't think anything I've stated is that far off? They avoid relegation, just, and I don't know if an increased transfer budget will still allow us to sign players on the back of him being Martinez as apposed to us being Liverpool.

All in my opinion of course.

Apparently mourinho credits LVG as a major factor in his development, whilst at Barca. Apparently as manager, LVG *cliche* took him under his wing *cliche* and gave him one of the cup competitions to manage. Doesn't sound like the actions of a ruthless, egotistical, dictator-type.
