      Bielsa - can't speak English
Mourinho - signed a new contract

I want us to go backwards about as much as the next man but until I see FSG's vision and the results from getting their man (neither Hodgson or Kenny was that) then I'm willing to wait and see. I pray they make the right choices but so far I am happy with them, believe they have our best interests to heart and are capable of dragging us back from the brink.
If Martinez gets the job, he will get my full support.

The issue is why are they not considering the best out there? Rafa, is he better than Martinez? Yes his record says so. So why is he not being considers? Louis Van Gaal, media speculation maybe but is he better than Martinez? Again his record says he is, then why is he not considered? FSG says they want to win but they want to win cheaply is the message I am getting.

You have to ask whether this philosophy is the correct one though.

Most of the top managers in the game, certainly in England, want absolute power.
Wouldnt it be better to speak to Rafa and actually see what he wants rather than believe rumour, hearsay and total bollocks

Hell they might even be surprised by the answer they get

could it be that those two managers are both the wrong side of 50?

I fully agree 100% they are better managers than Martinez but it would appear they want to try a different route with a promising young manager. Once people can accept what it is FSG want then perhaps they can stop killing themselves emotionally with this lust for Rafa and the like.

I've stated a 100 times I think it's a **** plan, but it appears to be their plan.

Oh thats alright then, I'm hugely comforted by this

FFS its ****ing semantics, Martinez will still be picking the team, employing tactics etc......

Who knows what Rafa wants, you spoken to him recently????

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he would fully support Roberto Martinez if the Spaniard is named as the Reds' new manager.

Latics chairman Dave Whelan told Sky Sports on Friday Liverpoolhave offered Martinez a chance to be their new boss and a decision will be made within the next week.

The Spaniard was in Miami on Thursday for talks with Reds owner JW Henry about taking over at Anfield.

                  Offer

Reds skipper Gerrard says he was unaware of any offer for the Wigan boss but insists he would be completely behind him if he succeeds Kenny Dalglish at the helm.

"We'll have to wait and see. That's news to me," said England captain Gerrard, speaking ahead of the Three Lions' friendly with Norway on Saturday.

"My focus has been on the game for tomorrow. I am aware that Roberto Martinez has been speaking to the club.

"Everything I've heard about the guy has been good and positive. We'll have to wait and see what the club decide to do.

It's ridiculous that they have not even spoken to a champions league winning manager that is both available and willing.

The only sticking point would appear to be whether Martinez will be given the level of control he demands. ...sky

I'm starting to come around to the idea of RM. Let's give him a chance FFS. After all IIRC in summer 2004 we were all saying Rafael who?
Surely nobody will fall for this obvious wind up of a post? Lets see shall we.

You can get 5-6 years out of him. One of the best managers in the world with an undeniable CV.

FSG are getting an incredible amount of leeway. I don't trust them with this club unless they show ambition and quality. Instead, it's been shambles after shambles.

I agree, we should get in quick before Chelsea give him a permanent contract.

                                Did you expect any different?

Its pretty clear who that alledged comment is coming from

Are your surprised he said that after the things he reportedly said off the record about Kenny
