I have a feeling we won't get a new manager untill we get a DOF, not much point in doing it the other way around. If we get af DOF for the long term, he needs to be involved in getting the right manager to fit the picture. Might be a joint appointment though.

Another thought I had, is that perhaps we are waiting for the Euro's to get finished and have a manager from a national team in mind? Löew is really the main candidate I can think of there, but it could be we are waiting to see who is available in a monts time (although I believe it's a tad to long to wait right now).

I'm sure Barrett said that they wanted to do it that way round, so as not to undermine a new manager right from the get go. To be honest, the director of foofball should be involved in the interview process as well.

I've warmed to the idea of Van Gaal as a director of football. I think he'd be superb. Seems a bit of a cunt, but that isn't necessarily a bad quality to have for the role.

Van Gaal or Begiristain would be great. Cruyff is obviously hugely unrealistic.

Feels like it's been weeks. Everything so far suggests it's a fight between Villas Boas and Martinez. Maybe reset the poll with just those two and see? We all know the majority want Rafa, but let's see who people would prefer from the front runners since Klopp and De Boer are now out of the equation.
it does seem like ages doesnt it.

in terms of who would be good and who wouldnt well they all have a certain risk to them so who knows.

It has only been four days.

Think we're going to be in for a long couple of weeks in all honesty.

There's been a fair bit of speculation that a DOF is already in place or at the very least lined up. It could well be that we unveil our new manager and DOF at the same time.

Although i think we may not necessarily have one DOF as such. Ayre has stated that we have a preferred structure in mind and are finding people to work within this structure. Maybe up to three positions?

I hope we're not waiting til after the Euros.....we need to identify our targets early and get to work as soon as possible. Wait around and we'll get left even further behind.

FWIW i think by June 1st we'll have everyone in position. I bloody well hope so anyway.

My hunch is that they're waiting to get the interviews out of the way before they announce anything.
              Oh I don't know.

First one out on The Apprentice is always a bit embarrassing I suppose.

                    its probably been said but

whilst interviewing candidates seems a sensible idea for such an important role in a business i wonder are we selling the club enough to prospective candidates? the better candidates have a choice of clubs so how are we selling our job to them ?

Well it's normally what happens in the real world. An interview is always a 2 way process imo.

I almost spend as much time asking questions as the interviewers do. They seem to like that.
                        Oh I don't know.

Only 4 days, wow. I'm actually just as excited about the incoming DoF as the manager.

Why don't we have a DoF poll? :nothappy:
