My opinion is nothing to do with what Chelsea players said about him, purely base upon the way he came across in interviews.

Obviously if you throw in the rumours and what Chelsea players said then he seems an even bigger cock.

I may well be wrong but it's just the impression i get and for me he just isnt a good fit for the job.

lets be fair to the man, its all conjecture and tabliod reports say ... a little unfair to label him a cock, just because he gave a few touchy interviews and some precious 19 year old pampered footballer did not like being played out of position in a training game god forbid. I dont get this ... what so wrong with idolizing a manager ? we do it with players all the time ... is it so wrong to idolize a man who took us to two champions lg finals, drank with the fans in a pub, considers his children scousers, moved to the city, shed geniue tears at the memorial service, his wife works for charities in the city, a man who threw himself into the tradition of the club ... is it so wrong to idolize a man like that ?

People seemed to with Kenny and it didn't get flagged up then.. Yes I know he's done more for the club than any. Doesn't mean he's the only one people can idolize.

No one accepts there may be two sides to every story. It's always the 'Get rid of Carragher, Gerrard, Ayre, anyone who doesn't like Rafa' stuff that really irks. All the 'FSG are this and that if they don't talk to him'. Maybe they have their reasons? I know he did all of the above, but again, if one person even dares mentions the stuff at Inter or his last season with us, they instantly a WUM who has been reading fed Sky agenda bollocks.

I've no beef with the man. It's this bizarre zombie-like 'It must be Rafa, no one else but him' that I have the beef with. I can't enjoy a discussion about him without someone just chipping in with 'I wish he was here.' Even Kenny Dalglish's reign was dogged with it. I mean, Kenny Dalglish! If he got those kind of comments, then what hope does any future manager stand?

I commented a while ago that he has the same effect on fans as Mourinho does at Chelsea. The next manager doesn't stand a chance IMO.

We are becoming the new Chelsea, but it's because of the above. We'll get Martinez or Villas Boas and when we're 7th in the table in October, the comments will be back 'We should've had Rafa'.

I wish he'd just get a job at a different club and then come back later on if there is a vacancy. Otherwise, it's just going to hang over every manager onwards because they aren't Rafa.

I wouldn't call some of the stuff I read idolising. I'd call it a cult following. I've said I've witnessed it from personal experience and that's why I react strongly with it. Nothing personal with anyone or with Rafa.

But we don't really though do we. We say **** that sounds like we do, we express our respect in a deliberately childish way for effect, in a similar way that people said they wanted to bum Torres etc, but we don't actually think it. And it's the same with Rafa isn't it?

But look, he is held in such high regard because a lot of people feel he was wrongly let go, they want him back not born out of some homoerotic love of his rubenesque Spanish figure, its because the beleive he would put his back on the map, immediately.

All this get rid of Carra, Ayre irks me also, but for different reasons. These people are mature men and professionals for ****s sake. Its not a tree club we are running, its a professional outfit, everyday people who dont get along, get along, players who hate each other pass the ball to each other, MDs shake the hands of directors the would not enjoy a meal with and owners put up with people the rather not, at the end of the day, results are all the matters. Rafa knows how to get results, he got amazing results with limited backing the first time around, with his eye for detail and his statistically driven approach to the game, a lot of us beleive hime and FSG would make a fantastic team.

That and I think he is a decent human being and that counts for a lot also in my books. He is like a modern day Kenny so its easy to see why they are both idolized. But putting all that to one side, I am just fully confident he would put us back on the map, i cannot say that for any of the other candidates.
