Didn't Parry always claim Mourinho & Rafa were neck and neck until Mourinho went sprinting down the touchline at OT? Parry said it wasn't the sort of behaviour expected of a Liverpool manager and decided on Rafa. No?
I believe so
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
What pisses me off hearing Parry talking about setting a crtieria, knowing what type of manager they wanted etc, is why the hell didn't he do the same when selling the damn club!
He's coming across like they were soooo meticulous and clever.
Still think he just got lucky with Rafa, right man at the right time and available, bit like when we bought Suarez, great player that just seemed to be under everyones radar, for some reason.
Could be doing Parry a great disservice, but the mess they made of selling the club, and the decade that's set us back, maybe longer! irks.
Thats the thing about Parry either he made a brilliant decision or a **** one
There was never any middle ground
He was hugely inconsistant
The Rafa decision has to be said was a stroke of genius, few if any people cottoned on to that one
I hope the current owners pull a similar rabbit out of the hat

If I remember rightly Rafa met Moores and Parry at Moores holiday home in Marbella in the March (they sacked Houllier in May)
He was offerred the job shortly after that meeting
That's how I remember it also

'Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple.'
League JUVENTUS - The leadership of Juventus will have to do an important job in the summer. Last summer, Marotta and his associates have done a great job culminated by winning the Scudetto and Italian Cup final then lost against Napoli. But now we must make the leap because they face Juventus in the Champions League and will purchase a certain level. The Juventus Football has already set its sights on some players to strengthen every department. In this article we will focus in particular on defense, another department that Marotta will strengthen in the next season. The Bianconeri want to give Earl another central defender, this year the Bianconeri have obtained the prize for best defense in the league but the labors of the Champions League could be heard. Juventus has set its sights on Slovakia defender Skrtel, Liverpool player, class 84 ', which also likes to Fiorentina. The player would choose the course because they could play Juventus in the Champions League next season. Skrtel has a contract with the Reds until 2014, but Liverpool after the third consecutive season without Champions League has decided to lower the costs for this would leave many major players. Slovak is a physically strong player who has a market value of about 10 million euros. Juventus could put Elijah in the negotiations but will have to understand the intentions of the Slovak player. Skrtel could remain at Anfield next season if the coach Rafa Benitez will be. These days there is much talk of a possible return to Liverpool's Spanish manager, Skrtel happy to remain with the coach who launched him in Liverpool. Negotiations to bring Benitez is well under way even if there are other names in the game. Juventus look well in Italy for the purchase of a defender in sight of Cagliari's Davide Astori, center-back Class 87 'posted by Prandelli in the 32 pre-squad for the European championship. This year's season Astori was important, Cagliari evaluates it already 10 million. Juventus followed him for some time but must register the strong interest of Rome to the player.
