It's not irrelevant because Moores only sold the Club because he didn't have the wherewithal to build the stadium, hence the initial search for a minority investor that eventually lead to a full blown sale. If he was as rich as has been stated then we'd have the ParryBowl (or better) and none of this crapola.

no offence mate but i dont give a **** what ayre says in any interview,the man is a bull****ter and a backstabber,remember him wearing a liverpool shirt in our boardroom for the cup game against them,sold the americans down the river at liverpool too,not to be believed or trusted....imo

I'd be pretty happy with Van Gaal as director of football. I that Villas Boas interview and he wwas citing Van Gaal as being a huge influence. He's a big advocate of attacking football. Had success at numerous clubs. Plus I like his transfer policy. I think he would have us going for some big players.

The only downside is he's meant to be a bit of a prick. On top of that, would another coach be able to thrive 'under' him? AVB and Van Gaal might be prick overload, which is why Martinez might be a better fit.

Martinez under Van Gaal seems a much better fit, two many cunts do spoil the club as the old proverb says.

However, he's never done that role before. Who knows what sort of adaptation it takes? Must be difficult for a proven coach/manager to all of a sudden become totally hands off in first team matters.

The problem is for us there is no outstanding available candidate.

All of them seem to have ruled themselves out (and Rodgers has as well)

Just looking at the list of current contenders all come with major pros and cons imo

Fabio Capello not on Liverpool FC shortlist for new Reds manager

FABIO CAPELLO is not a contender for the vacant role of Liverpool FC manager.


The former England boss has been tipped as a possible successor to Kenny Dalglish but reports suggesting Fenway Sports Group have been in contact with the experienced Italian are wide of the mark.

The ECHO understands Capello is not on the owners’ list of candidates and FSG have no intention of making an approach to discuss the role with him.

The 65-year-old’s agent has been keen to press his claims for the Anfield job but FSG’s attention is focused elsewhere.


Wigan’s Roberto Martinez, who is currently on holiday in Barbados, is expected to meet the owners for talks over the next 48 hours.

Ex-Chelsea boss Andre Villa-Boas remains firmly in contention, while it has emerged that Swansea City’s Brendan Rodgers hasn’t been ruled out.

Last week Rodgers publicly rejected the chance to hold talks with Liverpool after realising FSG planned to speak to around a dozen candidates


However, the Northern Irishman could yet make the owners’ short-list and a second request to speak to him later on in the process is likely to yield a more positive answer.


FSG have distanced themselves from speculation linking them with a move for Didier Deschamps.

It has been reported that Marseille boss Deschamps spurned the Reds’ advances when he declared he intends to remain with the French club.

But the ECHO understands Deschamps’ agent approached Liverpool at the start of the search for Dalglish’s successor last week and was told there was no interest in speaking to the former Juventus midfielder.


There is no truth in reports that Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has become a contender to take over at Anfield.

Reds officials were left baffled by claims emanating from the capital that they are keen to speak to the 65-year-old.

Redknapp, who is currently seeking an extension to his Spurs contract which only has one year remaining, is not being considered by FSG.

Head Coach / Manager - AVB the favourite. Otherwise only Martinez or Rodgers in the frame.

Capello? Probably just been advising them.

Unfortunately Rafa will only get the job if others turn it down and also depends on what Van Gaal thinks.

The key is if they appoint Van Gaal then surely they're going for an up and coming manager like AVB, Martinez or Rodgers not an older experienced man.

It could all **** up. Why not just give it to Rafa and let him get on with finishing the job he started.
