And i don't think anyone is slagging Martinez off at all, he seems like a very nice chap and has potential in the future to be a good manager. I just think people are genuinely worried that another bad appointment could permanent mid table mediocrity.

The same Rafa who had experience coaching every Real Madrid youth team up to the B team before going it alone. Started **** but then got going.

      Cannot compare the two.

Why isn't Tony Pulis in the running? He's got a good track record not just at Stoke. Much better than Martinez in fact and he's always got good results on low budgets. Bournemouth, Gillingham, Plymouth, Stoke. Much more justification than Martinez.

pauldalglish3 mins I like him a lot as a person but bias aside I don't know what he has done to be a contender apart from play pretty football.

Sorry but you're all making excuses to justify your negativity. Martinez clearly understands tactics. He has beaten top teams home and away and has signed some decent players.

He could make a giant leap forward if he joins us?

He's not Bodge that's for sure.

I have no doubt that Martinez will become a great manager in the future.

I just don't think he'll become that with us, there's too much expected of him and I think he'll struggle to cope with it after having a 'relatively' easy ride at Wigan.

No we're providing reasoned arguments, which you're failing to acknowledge.

Won "home and away", wow, home AND away, that's magnificent. Bring him in ASAP!

That actually makes no sense. You've literally ignored what everyone has said and come up with that corker!

Beating top sides here and there isn't enough to have confidence in him though, imo he'd be beating a lot more of the smaller sides also if the wins against top sides were anything more than an anomoly.

Maybe he'll be great, but i'm not confident he will be.

But, but, but, but in the three years he's managed Wigan he won a home game AND an away game! Against the bigger boys! The bigger boys! Sign him up!!

They also consistently rolled over for the bigger teams, getting thumped 6-0 at home by Chelsea for example.

They also lost 8 matches in a row at one stage this season.

Flavour of the month for me.

I'd prefer Martinez over any of the realistic candidates we've been linked with, barring Rafa of course

I'd not be doing cartwheels at his appointment, but how do we know he'd not be a success at a bigger club, without him being given the chance to be a success at a bigger club

Wigan to Liverpool is obviously quite a jump, but whats the alternative, take on a mid level European team? For example, if he guided Villa to mid table security for 2 seasons, I still don't think that would be enough 'experience' for us. Klopp aside, there aren't any managers that I'm aware of that have that ideal mix of traits Rafa did when he came here: Won titles, seen as up and coming manager, success in Europe etc

Basically, we got Rafa at the most perfect time imaginable. I just dont think there are any other managers like that around at present
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

For those that don't want him its not time to panic yet.

He is only having an interview we knew he was having when its most convenient ie. when he is in America anyway.

Well thats my sound reasoning carry on panicking
