he lost cattermole and palacios before he took over? so never really lost them cos they wernt thereOriginally posted by kris90210 View PostThey lost Cattermole, N'zogbia and Palacios as well, who were big players for them. If you look at the net spend between Bruce's time at the club and Martinez's - you can see he's been working under greater financial constraints.
In my opinion he's done a bloody good job at Wigan - whether he gets the Liverpool job or not.

I'm looking forward to seeing who gets the job. I think it will be exciting whoever gets it initially.
But let's all be honest. Let's stop wanking over all the tactics and formations utilised by the managers linked with us.
Every single manager we seem to have a chance of getting, is gonna be nowhere near the Chelsea job. Does anyone think Martinez or Rodgers will be interviewed by Roman? Would they be linked to the Manc job if either club let their manager go? Would they ****e.
We have slipped a long, long way, make no mistake about it. That is the reality.Forwards.......

So we're talking ourselves into why Martinez is a good option for us?
I think my biggest concern is why Wigan *just* avoid relegation. If he's a tactical innovator, why can't he get the best out of Wigan in August? I could understand if it was his first year, but to put in repeat performances over a couple of years is worrying. Is he still learning from his mistakes?
What draw is he going to be to incoming players? Yes, we are Liverpool, but from the outside looking in with no bias, I don't know how much of a pull we are. Kenny was Kenny, Rafa was successful etc. Martinez can talk about his performances circa April.
It puts more emphasis on getting our structure right with no room for error.
I can fully understand people suggesting an upcoming manager needs that chance, but our position as a club is right on the line of falling into obscurity or bursting back into life and it's too risky for my liking. It's *critical* we get this right.

Ye very well put.
