and now, I get to hear his name pronounced MARTIN-ez for years to come instead of mar-TEE-nez, and it will drive me utterly bat****.

Well, if he's said that to fsg about control, they have no real reason not to talk to Rafa now.

          But they wont, will they!?

We should just call him Martin.

              As for Martinez......

I've already done a long post on him and I've also done a post on why he probably shouldn't be considered. If Rafa goes to Villa I think the craziness of it all would really hit home.

I think RM will have to start very brightly to get the fans on board. The same was said of Hodgson, but the battling draw with Arsenal aside, it was a poor start.

He'll be helped in that he employs a good brand of football. That will buy him a little time.

But if we start badly, Villa get of to a flyer under Rafa, and in the 6th game or so Rafa brings Villa to Anfield and outclasses us....,. Well I'd fear for him as I could get guess what the fans reaction would be like.

Personally I'd go with Rafa, but understand the owners not going for him due to past relations. But if they aren't going with Rafa, I'd have hoped for a man of similar ilk, of what RM is not.
              Forwards.......

The only people taking us there is our current owners. We have a world class manager practically begging to get the job that they refuse to consider.

Haha! I suspect he's our man but that interview was probably slight exaggerated as usual by Whelan.

I think people may be getting confused between posters voicing concerns, therefore meaning they won't get behind the manager. I was hugely behind Kenny regardless of his stature and posted many times about stability and a long term vision. *If* it is Martinez, I'll swallow my concerns and look at it objectively.
