If its either Martinez or Rodgers as manager under Van Gaal then I would be delighted. Either one of those choices would be a step in the right direction I feel. I'm backing FSG to lead us to glory.

thats why a DoF, someone with the experience and balls, like LVG, could well make it work for us.
I like the sound of that theory, the thing that worries me slightly, is that apparently LVG wants to manage, and would see himself maybe ? as the one that would take over should a young and inexperienced one fail.

Could there be a conflict of interests ?

maybe fsg would bring in lvg to oversee the manager from the background, until he finds his feet. it would be the sensible solution. if lvg has been sorted for the dof, then you have to think that fsg would have clearly defined his role, and how he would be expected to coach the manager to ensure he fits in to lvg's stylee, and will be a good man for the future.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

                So. Brendan Rodgers then?

Let's look to Est1892's highly scientific poll, to see what people thin....

                Oh.

A Rodgers tika-tika 4-2-1-2-1 formation, do we think?

Shankly came here when we were in Division 2 and continually messed about by chairmen. Completely different set of circumstances now.

Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish and Evans, all internal appointments understood the philosophy of the club having seen what was done everyday, so the transition was smooth.

And don't forget that we were run by football men back then. Now we are not, and likely to be getting advice from people who cannot be held accountable for their advice.

Oh i'm sure FSG would make it clear, but for the reasons i stated, i would worry that LVG might have eyes on the managers job, and that could, i stress could conflict with him wanting the manager to succeed, he's a strong willed character by all accounts, full of self belief.

It's probably me worrying about nothing, and they'd work well together with LVG totally committed to making the club and it's manager a success.

I know a lot of fans want Rafa back, but if the owners see a different future, and want's to start over and likely want's to play a different type of football than what Rafa offers - then why interview him just to satisfy an external demand? That is really my main point, I havn't seen a good argument as to why they just have to interview him if they see things differently right now.

And your post doesn't really answer what traditions FSG are violating by choosing another manager than one sacked just 2 years ago as you said? What are they doing so wrong exactly other than keeping things behind closed doors?

In my opinion starting a new is a very good idea considering what the club have been throuh the last 3-4 years.
And this is where many fans get it wrong ... Exactly 3 years ago, we have finished 2nd in the league, with 86 points ... Many of the players signed or promoted by Rafa (like Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Kelly, Lucas, Aquilani, Maxi, Kuyt) are still with LFC, and the young players signed or promoted by Rafa (like Shelvey, Sterling, Suso, Robinson and Flanagan) are becoming mature enough to be considered for the first team ... Why starting from the scrap, when there is already a very good foundation in place?

Too early to worry about, but such conflicts have been known to happen in the US under similar setups.

                              whatever....

I think the LVG / BR team could work. I look forward to the players we sign. I wouldn't mind Sigurdsson but if we went after Sinclair and others then i'll quickly become cheesed off to be honest.

Overall though, Swansea passed teams off the park with players that were basically Championship players....it will be interesting to see what his team could do with players like Enrique, Agger, Johnson, Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Suarez......even Downing and maybe Dirk (and even Adam) to be honest....

I wonder about Andy though - if he had a good Euros, then i wouldn't be too surprised to see us sell him - not too sure he would fit into things with BR but then again AC is skillful enough as well in his own right and seems to retain possesion pretty well....

It will also open up the possibility for Aquilani / Joe Cole to come back..... all of a sudden we aren't looking too weak a squad at all...

Fock the Euros.....i can't wait till 18th August!!!
