On the radio yesterday they were saying that suarez will probably be called up for the olympics by uruguay. The final is on august 11th.

          Seriously hope not.

It's been expected for a while along with Coates and then Bellamy for the British Team.

At least the olympics are in England. Travels not an issue for once.

If they play as bad as Shrek did at the Euros it's better for their countries they don't

They won't pick any of those who went to the euros? Thought I saw that somewhere, so we could get off lightly. Smalling, Walker, Caulkner, Sturridge, Bertrand etc. are probably going but Kelly, Henderson and Carroll should stay eith us. Right?

                        Liverpool vs Bayer Leverkusen friendly.

Sami Hyypia is set for a return to Anfield when Liverpool complete their preparations for the 2012-13 season with a home friendly against Bayer Leverkusen.

The clash will take place on Sunday, August 12 at 3pm - six days before the start of the new Barclays Premier League season.

Liverpool have already confirmed friendly games against Toronto FC (July 21), Roma (July 25) and Tottenham (July 28) on their tour to North America presented by Standard Chartered.

Brendan Rodgers will then oversee his first competitive games in charge with Europa League third qualifying round fixtures on August 2 and 9 before Leverkusen travel to Merseyside.

Hyypia spent 10 years at Anfield before departing for Leverkusen, where he started as a player before becoming a coach.

The Finn was appointed manager this summer after taking over as caretaker boss in April.

Liverpool supporters are sure to afford a warm reception to one of the Reds' greatest ever signings, who made 464 appearances after arriving in 1999.

He went on to captain the club, score 35 goals and help re-establish Liverpool as a European force.

Hyypia's medal cache includes the Champions League, the UEFA Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, two FA Cups and two League Cups.

GB and Uruguay have both been drawn in Group A and face each other at the Millennium Stadium on August 1, in the final round robin fixture.

Should the Reds’ trio be part of the respective squads then it certainly rules them out of the first leg of the Europa League but an early exit for either side could see the players be back in time for Liverpool’s return fixture.

Liverpool have confirmed that German side Bayer Leverkusen will visit Anfield this summer for a friendly whilst the Reserves embark on a tour of Ireland.

Leverkusen, now managed by Liverpool legend Sami Hypiia, will provide the Reds with their final pre-season opposition on Sunday 12th August at 3pm - six days before the start of the new league season.

The match follows friendly games in America against Toronto FC (21st July), Roma (25th July) and Tottenham Hotspur (28th July). Plus the two-legged Europa League qualifier against a currently unknown opponent on 2nd and 9th August.

Liverpool supporters are sure to give Hyypia, who made 464 appearances over 10 years at Anfield, a warm reception.

The Finn was appointed as the Bundesliga outfit's permanent manager this summer after initially taking over as caretaker boss back in April.

A one time Liverpool captain, Hyypia's medal haul on Merseyside includes the Champions League, the UEFA Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, two FA Cups and two League Cups.

Meanwhile, around the time of the Europa League third qualifying round fixtures, Rodolfo Borrell will take the club's reserve players on a small tour of Ireland.

Borrell's side are scheduled to play Bray Wanderers on 5th August at Bray in County Wicklow followed by a fixture against Belfast side Crusaders at the Ravenhill Stadium on 7th August.

The historic Ravenhill ground is home to Ulster Rugby and Liverpool's visit will represent its first ever hosting of a football match.

For ticket information on all of Liverpool's pre-season games please contact the club.
