Obviously Rafa probably thinks the same hence why Warnock hardly ever starts a game. I think to call him a Championship player is harsh but in my opinion he's a Wigan, Fulham or Villa type player and definitely not a LFC player.
Rafa wouldnt let him go in part exchange when he was trying to sign Lucas Neill though would he? Almost as though that was the dealbreaker for Rafa.

Sound mate, we'll leave it alone we clearly have differing opinions. But if Warnock's a ****e footballer then Traore is off the scale

I think it was more to do with the fact that Blackburn wanted him thrown into the equation last minute and maybe Rafa wanted to keep Warnock as cover for Riise just in case Aurelio turned out to be dog turd. If you think about it, if we'd let Warnock go then we would only have Riise as an established left sided player with Gonzalez and Aurelio needing time to bed in. We'd already sold Traore, Kewell's crocked and whilst there's still Zenden he was always ear marked by Rafa to play in the centre.

That's probably the real reason why Rafa chose to keep Warnock. The lad is a p!ss poor footballer and thankfully Rafa won't be giving him much playing time judging by the number of games he's been involved in thus far.

Can't agree here. He's one of my favourite players. Blood & guts type.

There's few things more satisfying than watching a local player come up through the ranks and make it into the first team at Anfield, and maybe that's part of the reason I was desperate for Warnock to make the LB slot his own.

There's absolutetly no questioning the lad's commitment, but...I think any decent right sided player could probably skin him a couple of times per game.

Positionally, at times, he's woeful - but I agree with Art, I think I'd still prefer him to Aurelio at LB. He's never going to anything more than cover, though.

Let's not forget Warnocks hardly played, so his positioning will be a bit out, especially playing with an unfamiliar CB pairing. Warnock offers far more going forward than Djimi ever did, but Djimi was maybe better defensively minded. But I think the only way we would find out would be if Warnock ever got a decent run in the side.
