The article only really highlights the flexibility of the front three - big shock to everyone - and that we have trigger movements and practised routines for attacking play. The latter sounds, on paper, like the sort of thing that Lecter complained about under Hodgson, so I very much doubt it will give anyone revelatory insight.

My thread about the Klopp style guide seems to have been killed dead (sniff) by this one so I'll post my thoughts here

The "genius" of what Klopp has done is to turn the side into a single unit which works like Deep Purple used to play on stage - they'd start off with the main refrain and then extemporise for maybe 10 or 20 minutes without missing a beat, without Jon Lord tripping up Ritchie Blackmore or the other way round, one would build a solo and then "hand it over" to the other as Paicey and Glover kept the overall rhythm ticking over (and Gillan played the bongos) then it would gradually come back to the main riff/ melody line for the climax.

      Okay enough of that!

What I really mean is Liverpool now think as a group, no one is indulging in stupid unproductive solo runs to nowhere (Kloppy would have killed a few previous players like Milan Baros in a moment), they play it tight, work in packs, work in phases - stand off, play possession, press, attack, score, and so on. Against Watford you could see the ebb and flow (with the Sky comms wittering on about how "they might regret all these missed chances" after about 15-20 minutes - have some patience!), the first corner on 9 minutes came after a foolish almost no look backpass, the side had been gradually applying the press and the defender seeing no pass forward panicked. A small thing in itself but a perfect illustration of the tactics of the side now.

The phases of play approach also means that the talk about fatigue is pretty much horse-feathers, they are not just running about for 90s mins.

Agree with all the other comments.

What has been making us so effective is the threats are all over the place (no secret), so it's very difficult to defend. The way Man U played is probably the way opposition managers should approach games against us but not every team can play that way.

Also, all we need to do is score an early goal to render that particular game plan useless.

I think that United game was the worse we have played this season over the whole game though, even though De Gea saved two worldies in it.

From watching us at the moment I mentioned the other day we seem like the Arsenal team of the early noughties who just pressed and smashed teams at will with Henry / Pires / Ljundberg etc who used to move around as one all the time.

Such a brilliant feat by Klopp as last year I didn't think it could work with Lallana and Coutinho in the same team as they were both a bit slow at times in their approach play.

agreed, very similar [but not as blues/jazzy] as the epic La Villa Strangiato where alex lifeson first sets the tone and soon neil peart and geddy lee come and build so it becomes a full team press.
soon each member will take a turn at the head and do the more obvious focal point of the work, but the others are there with able support.

Lads, good comments there & I do agree with a lot of it but can't help feel that with every little bit that Klopp gives away, we are painting a picture for the opposing teams who are still trying to work out how to play/beat us...would rather wait until we a bit further down the road & a few titles in the bag before revealing our "secrets"!

                Just my tuppence...

Anyone with a half a football brain can look at the pitch, pour over footage, and work out what is going on already.

Stopping it is an entirely different matter.
                  Oh I don't know.

I've just read the contents of that quoted tweeted. I'm kinda baffled why this is even a conversation. There is nothing revealed in there at all.

                    Oh I don't know.
