I'd say I'm still underwhelmed, I feel bare minimum we need another top forward player with some pace and if don't have the money (which seems to be the case) id have preferred, if possible, to have kept Bellamy here for another season and then spend next seasons summer budget of £12m on a replacement, if we could get a top attacker I'd then like to joe cole ****ed off

I'd also say that despite signing Allen, we could do with another top class centre mid, and then sell spearing and Adam

Finally decision on Carroll, I'd keep him and see how he does unless someone comes in with a ridiculous offer for him.

It's a bit of stick or twist tho....it appears we have no money, so the only way we could afford the extra forward man would be to sell agger, but then we need to a replacement for him....so in that case I'd rather stick...tho I'd have preferred to have stuck with Bellamy as well.

I think it's pretty safe to assume Allen will be a first choice centre mid. If we were to sign another one, I think it would see Gerrard moved up into the front 3.

We're not signing Allen for our League Cup games, he'll be a key member of our starting eleven.

Just need a couple of forwards now.

You cant just keep throwing 50-100 mill at the club each season.. That's just asking for trouble.

We have decent players, we've just lacked a decent manager who can get the best out of them.. Hopefully Rodgers can change that..

We still need two attacking players because Cole is not good enough for the wide areas.

We've let go of quite a few players. If we match what's come in and what's gone out:

Kuyt = Borini
Aquilani = Allen
Maxi = Cole?
Bellamy = ?
Aurelio = Jack Robinson?
Carroll? = ?
Adam? = Dempsey?

If we count Jack Robinson as a back-up for Enrique, then that's ok, but what if Carroll goes too? We've saved quite a bit in wages against pay-offs, so I'd not be impressed if Borini and Allen are our only pieces of business.

I'm not surprised we're still being linked with 3-4 players, because that's what we need. The only thing is they need to be of a high technical quality.

We don't need a replacement for Aquilani as he hasn't been in the squad for 2 seasons and before that he was injured. I see Dempsey more a replacement for Bellamy and Allan a replacement for Adam. Carroll hasn't gone yet so by your assessment I'd say we have replaced those players, but we now need to strengthen our squad.

Rather than keep him on the bench its best to sell him and bring in a more mobile top class replacement. £16-19m can get you alot outside of England and I would rather we went for a direct replacement, a proper goal-getter

Does that reflect well on the owners? I know there has been alot of discussion and anger lately about how we are considering selling our best players so how do people feel now?
I have to assume that we have now spent all the cash that was available to spend this summer.

So assuming from here onwards we have to sell to buy is everyone fine with that? Obviously the preferred sales would be of Carroll and Adam but if not him then it seems Agger is the next player we are willing to sell in order to raise funds for new signings

In my opinion im happy to improve the squad further by selling Carroll and Adam but not Agger

If this is what we end up spending then I think its reasonable

This is a huge outlay when you also factor in the sacking of Kenny, Comolli and staff and the compensation we paid out to get Rodgers and staff

Then look at the players we have let go, very few of them generated any fees (only Kuyts £1 million imo) and there is no doubt we will have had to provide pay-offs for most if not all of those we let go

I dont think we can complain too much on that basis as things stand today

Because of your the owner you just release more funds, surely.

I don't think Imy was blaming Rodgers in any of his posts, more looking at intent from the owners part to either sort the stadium out or release more funds for transfers.

Funds from where? The club generates x amount of income. When that is spent, that is pretty much that.

The owners expectations should match their investment. Reading in another thread that there is a correlation between winning teams and the wages they pay.

Rogers apart from the foot in mouth disease with Agger (and to a lesser extent Carroll) has done ok. He's trying to right the wrongs of previous windows but who wants an overpriced Adams, Downing, Carroll etc etc?
He's got a clear strategy with regard to playing style, i just think he's hamstrung with the owners not wanting to invest. His vision is a long term one, but as we saw with Kenny how long will FSG and the fans give him?

Why should they put more of their own money in? They are not benefactors and have never pretended to be.

We were light up top last season and have sold 3 (Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy) and bought only one to replace them.
