Mariner was awful today and a total away team ref.

We took it to the league champions and almost won. Considering we're a team in transition, that's not bad.

Oh plus we have Assaidi and Sahin to come in!

To think that last season we could have seen Spearing on to replace Lucas...

Thanks, I thought it did too.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Encouraging prformance. Skrtel needs to stop letting his brain have a melt every now and then. Two games and 3/5 goals we conceded were from his mistakes

silly mistakes cost us winning the game but we looked bloody good today and should take an awful lot of confidence from that display.

Both goals were excellent finishes from Skrtel and Suarez and we controlled most of the game against the current PL champions.

Certainly still work to be done but I am pretty impressed with the direction we're heading in and Allen what a player - calm, composed and uses the ball well.

Still got Sahin and the other new lad to come into the side, things are looking good for us IMO

I'd have liked the full 3 points! But was a cracking performance none the less and hopefully our defence tightens up when agger gets back plus we have sahin to come in plus lucas ce off early too...so all in all very promising stuff...bring on the next game!!! YNWA

Started nervously but grew into the first half and by the end of it we had our goal.

Reina flapped a few times in that game one resulting in their goal, Kelly probably should have done better too. Maybe a little harsh on him but the first mistake from Reina let to that error.

Can't really bring myself to have a go at Skrtel because he was immense apart from that cock-up.

We really still lack a goalscorer though, looked clueless at times in and around the box. Apart from his superb free-kick I thought Suarez had a stinker, after his goal though he was everywhere.

Cut out the mistakes and keep playing in that fashion and we'll do very well.

Poor from Skrtel for the goal but great with everything else and Reina had no need to be coming for that ball for the first.

Allen,Sterling and Coates were brilliant. Alot of very good performances in there

Sterling was great, Shelvey has something of a young Gerrard about him, Allen is class. Can't wait to see a fit Lucas and Sahin fitting into this team. We're an out and out goal poacher and another winger away from having a pretty decent squad, and a great first 11.

Didnt think I'd ever see a performance like that without Agger and Lucas! We usually fall apart without one let alone both!

and we we're missing our best defender in Agger from that performance as well.

Lots of positives to take from the game today, just a shame it wasn't all 3 points.

Enjoyed that. Harsh result to finish on but if you're sloppy and they're ruthless, that's what happens. They aren't champions for nothing.

General play very good, midfield worked well as did high pressing. Allen so composed and efficient both with and without the ball. With Lucas hopefully coming back in and Sahin becoming available I'm amazed at the turnaround in what we have to offer in CM in terms of both personnel and tactical functionality.

Skrtel mistake a symptom of making transition to always looking to play the short ball and using the keeper so readily; things like that will cost us occasionally but hopefully be increasingly rare as we become accustomed to this style, and we shouldn't forget it's that style that helped us control the game so well against a better team.

Sterling a real positive. Hopefully see him featuring sporadically over the season. If Assaidi shows similar quality I will be very happy with his signing.

Ref was a bit ****, some strange decisions given both ways. Obviously I feel we were hardest done by but then I'm not a City supporter . Didn't feel it was a pen on Johnson when I saw one replay, but didn't like conclusive either - be interested to see more of that incident.
