And too many fans are not blameless.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

By all accounts Ian Ayre was involved in that decision
        We come not to play.

Amen, 2 CL finals, 1 CL Cup, 1 UFEA Cup, 2 La Liga Titles, 1 FA Cup, 1 Super Cup , 1 World Club Title, Runner up in the EPL having signed players like Torres, Renia, Alonso, Garcia, Mascherano, Lucas, Agger, Kuyt ect

Pure madness I was and still am distraught...

Ne'er a truer word spoken. Short-termist sales attitude and long term business growth don't often combine well.

I think most sensible people know that patience is going to be required. It will not be easy staying patient through more inevitable defeats. Failure to bolster our attack for the sake of a million or two seems petty by the owners even though I see the sense in their stated position.

We clearly have decided to stay within the financial fair play rules but it is galling to see others blatantly ignoring it. Look at Chelsea still spending like drunken sailors on shore leave. Man city the same.

I think FSG clearly saw investment in us as being attractive within the confines of FFP but I can see them looking for a way out if it turns out to be non inforceable.

I like Rodgers. I like his vision and I like to think I would appreciate true success coming out of this way rather than buying our way to the top. I suppose that is the old socialist in me.

Our younger supporters are different though (and many of our older supporters). The modern world is all about quick fixes and in a wider sense look what trouble that has caused to the world.

Our team should always get our full support out on the pitch. Booing under any circumstances is counter productive. I am sure uncertainty spreads to performance and that is unhelpful.

              Stay strong people.

Add in the fact Tony Barrett reported FSG have given Rodgers a target of the Champions League in his 3rd season then that should tell you that this season and next is a work in progress.

FWIW i believe we'll add 2 or more new players in Jan and we'll finish the season with enough hope and confidence for next season.
Im hoping for top 8 this season in transistion, top 6 next season then a real challenge for top 4 in the 3rd year.
I am not so sure Rodgers (who I like as a manager) will be around if that is the best we can do.

Top 4 is/was unrealistic this year and I indicated that imo 5th place is the best we can do but I would hope that we can do better than that the year after.

FSG trimmed the fat wage bill quite a bit over last 2 years and they will continue to get rid of deadweight in next couple windows.

Even though our overall wage bill will probably be similar (they said they expect wage bill to increase), after we bring the new players over the next few transfer windows, our depth should be better and we should have more balanced squad and should be able to improve in the areas we are significantly short on quality atm.

If we don't genuinely compete next year for top 4 (we don't have to be 4th but we have to in mix from day one) and I really am not sure he will last nor I think it is enough for the club of this magnitude to accept anything less than competing at the highest level.

I think Rodgers will be happy to be around for 5+ years if progress is made and looks like it can continue.

If he leaves within three years, let alone sooner, without having got us even close to the CL then, unless it's obvious it's down to reasons outside his control, like a clear lack of backing, it would look like he has failed and that would do his career no good.

It's crazy that Roy Hodgson had a disaster in his time here and is hailed a great manager and lands the England job. Rafa (oops I just had to sorry) is a failure because of the way he treated the press not what he achieved through extremely uncertain times. It still makes my blood boil the way Rafa is perceived by other football fans.

All the papers came out backing Rodgers in this Dempsey debacle and I know from having friends in the broadsheets that they all like and respect Rodgers which certainly wasn't the case last season with Kenny.

We will get positive articles, Rodgers will be given plenty of time and leeway by the broadsheet media which in theory means less hysteria.

Get rid of Ayre or move him back into a commercial role, bring in a Chief Exec who knows what he is doing, one who doesn't treat everyone else from past managers to other PL directors like a cunt and we'll be better than alright.
You mean the way Bodge's cronies tea-bagged him and appealed for him to be given time? What's said in the media should be totally irrelevant in terms of evaluating the position/performance of the Manager. Plus I don't think moderate broadsheet views would do much good in lowering the hysteria level if the tabloids get into full swing.

I agree to an extent but everyone expects the tabloids to be a bunch of cunts.
The broadsheets and respected journalists (oxymoron??) piled into us over Suarez.
Now some of that was because they disagreed with what we were doing but a lot of it was because it was their chance to hit out at Kenny.
In the space of a few weeks we went from being most fans favourite 2nd club to being universally labled as racists with everyone hating us.

Im sorry but this 'I dont give a **** what others think' attitude is well off, in this day and age playing the game with the press and media gets you a lot more time.
Being given more time gives us a much better chance of stability and in turn success.

Look at Wenger, 7 years without a trophy, all his best players leaving year after year and barely a mumour in the media?
Why? Because they like and respect him.

It doesnt make it right, we dont have to like it but thats how it works.
