In the space of a few weeks we went from being most fans favourite 2nd club to being universally labled as racists with everyone hating us.

Im sorry but this 'I dont give a **** what others think' attitude is well off, in this day and age playing the game with the press and media gets you a lot more time.
Being given more time gives us a much better chance of stability and in turn success.

Look at Wenger, 7 years without a trophy, all his best players leaving year after year and barely a mumour in the media?
Why? Because they like and respect him

It doesnt make it right, we dont have to like it but thats how it works.
It has a lot to do with fact that he has been taking Arsenal to CL each and every year especially now as there is more quality teams competing for top 4 spots.

Whether we want to ackownledge it or not that is the success we are striding for for last 3+ years

They've been in that stadium now for what, 3 yrs? As time goes on their interest payments will go down and they'll really start to see the benefit of those extra bums on seats. Continuous CL participation does no harm when it comes to maintaining their fanbase as well. That's where we would be now if Parry and Moores had borrowed to build the stadium instead of trying to get new owners to pay for it instead.

Not to digresss but hey ho as we are talking about the press and Suarez, I got the distinct impression politics from a much higher altitude was at play. Send a message that in Cultural Harmony Olympic Year, Great Britain does not tolerate Racism. Suarez he is the guy and this is the vehicle to do so. On a couple of occasions you could almost hear Journalists straining to not give there full thoughts on the matter because for awhile there, there certainly seemed to be a party line if partys were media outlets about were everybody stood on this issue. Regardless of facts, and push against the line was met with derision and claim of Liverpool fans being part of the conspiracy fringe, something I am personally quite use to

Whilst I personally always felt particularly outraged by that incident, knowing and having lived with a 100s and 100s of Latinos. In hindsight there comes a point were you have to take your lumps and realize this is a battle for what ever reason, we are not going to win. That whole affair stunk of being totally out maneuvered, mismanaged and ultimately stank the place out. Football is as much about public opinion and perception. In that court we are getting ****ing hammered season in season out.

We need to be start to be seen as doing things proper, doing things right, being the most professional outfit and get back to being a club know for its decency, honesty and integrity. A club that does things right, treats people the right way and respects outer people outside of the club.

Match that with a commitment to play the beautiful game in a way fitting of such an illustrious sporting institution and a maturity in the fan base to get behind this ambitious project, they just maybe we can all turn a very very big corner in the next 3 years.

Wenger is still at Arsenal because he serves the boards' interests and has total control over the way he runs the football side of things. They don't care if he does not win and gets them a top four finish and does well in the CL.

Wenger got a lot of **** at the start of last season when they had 1 point from 3 games. Fans calling for his head, media on his back etc etc.

Agree. He's doing a good job mind and I expect us to model his way.

Winning trophies would not be the yardstick now, but keeping costs low and getting in the CL.

I still expect a top 5 finish, if we actually spend well in Jan we should be pushing Arse and Spuds the that last CL spot.

I’m not adopting a ****-what-people-think attitude; I’m just against giving added weight to the views of clueless journalists.

Given how instantaneously fans can access various media (forums, twitter, facebook, radio phone-ins, etc) after a match, the hysteria will be well underway anyway before the great and the good from the broadsheets can chime in. The hysteria even sets in during a match, if the in-game threads on here are anything to go by.

One of the reasons I think hysteria can build is because fans of different teams can easily interact via the social media websites, with a lot of back and forth arguing. If a person’s team is struggling and they are on the receiving end of abuse from various ‘friends’ and associates from their social networks, I’m sure in a lot of cases this influences that person’s reaction to his/her team, with the effect that the troubles become more personalised and thus criticism becomes more extreme. And a struggling team also robs the individual of the chance to hand out the abuse. Obviously this isn’t confined exclusively to the internet; I get the impression that a few on this forum get stick from their other-team supporting mates in the real world, hence they feel obliged to go overboard when slagging off the team/various players as the source of their woe.

                        With respect thats bull****.

You have to manage information, who gets it and how.

You have to develop relationships with people who distribute information

You have to develop relationships with people who create content

You have to influence and as much as you can control information

So you can create as positive a perception as humanely possible

We utterly suck at this, if we were half as good on PR & Communications as we are on Commerical we would not have been half the public **** fights we have witnessed in the pass 4 years or so ..

What was the interview Rodgers just gave all about?

Selected LFC websites/forums/outlets etc... Rodgers giving them his time, explaining his working methods etc...

He was managing what information he released, who he released it to and developing relationships and beginning to build trust.

Rodgers has done all this with the national press already over the last couple of years.
Practically every 'important' or respected football journalist had a 1 to 1 with him in the cupboard that doubled as his office at the Leisure Centre he worked from with Swansea.

It's not a coincidence that all the papers rave about him.

FSG will give him 3 years minimum, the press will give him as long as he wants, it's only idiot Liverpool fans wanting instant success that will moan, grumble and get on his back.

They can **** right off and support someone else.

the press will change whenever they want you mean. journos, infact the media as a whole is full of ******s. yeh they love him just now but after only 3 games this season some are already questioning him. lovey-lovey stories dont sell forever. papers sell with scandal etc... if it gets them exposure and sells any journo would turn on rodgers just as they do them all.

Amen Brother, seriously the world is crammed full of stupid, mean spirited, ignorant, greedy fools and unfortunately we have our far share.

Everything that has happened up until this point with regards to FSG has made perfect sense to me, the ball has been dropped on a couple of occasions, but its a lot to chew for people new to the sport. In many ways its the most difficult gig in world football right now, because expectations are so out of wack with reality and because certain aspects of the media push this weres the crisis this week Agenda. Whats happening with AVB right now is very remmenisant of the Dark Witch hunt days the Rafa seemed to get a lot. I know he has not helped himself, but you get the impression, the press jury has given in the verdict on him already.

I 100% sure Rodgers will be here for 3 years and I am very confident based on how he has got the side playing, the small number of players he has bought that we will be a much much stronger club for having him at the reigns for 3 years.

Any reasonable decent, good sort of fan would get behind him and give him some time, if they dont then they are just ******s

Some excellent points there. I've noticed that the most abusive critics during or after a match are often lads who regularly socialise with fans of other clubs and/or fellas who seem to frequent lots of different forums and social media websites. I think some of it is the natural human instinct of trying to 'fit in' and impress others - "look at me, I can call Ian Ayre a cunt and John Henry a ****** from behind my PC... aren't I ****ing hard?"
