Well that's just plain wrong. Alfonso Alves scored 45 in 39 for Heerenveen. Kezman scored 105 in 122 for PSV. Kuyt scored 71 in 101 for Feyenoord - all better than 0.66.Originally posted by destinydude View PostWell only the original Ronaldo scored liek a goal a game and then it is Suarez.
The rest that you mentioned scored at 0.66 or so I guess.
To be frank, he's scoring off rebounds and tap-ins while missing perfectly good opportunities.
As a statistic 7/11 seems good but when you watch the games you clearly know that he isn't doing as well as 7/11 is suggesting. He should be doing better and I'll saying it again and again if need be.
Who gives a flying **** how the goal go in? He scored a 25 yeard free kick against Man City. It counts for exactly the same as todays 3-yard tap in.
I watch every game mate, and I'm wondering why you're so focussed on Suarez to the extent that you're happy to ignore the lack of goals coming from every other player in the side.K ris90210

haven't seen the game but quite a few posters have said he did well when he came on. have some people perhaps already decided he'll be the scape goat prior to him playing? I say that as I know I didn't rate kuyt and thus would pick him out when we've struggled above all the other wasters. Its easy to get into a rut with this instead of judging him fairly. Of course he could have be plain camel ****.Originally posted by vlahka View PostAlso **** off Downing.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

He did nothing wrong mate, looked better than Borini.. I've been his biggest critic but he came on kept the ball and tried to put in a few crosses.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Posthaven't seen the game but quite a few posters have said he did well when he came on. have some people perhaps already decided he'll be the scape goat prior to him playing? Wasn't fantastic but the abuse is ****ing ridiculous based on today's performance, little bit embarrassing.Vive la France

With all due respect, he is our main goal scoring threat. We paid 25 mill euros or so for him to be banging goals for us at .66 or more. His return has been gash so far. He has his moments of genius but he has more moments where he makes a terrible decision or just fluffs all the chances.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostWho gives a flying **** how the goal go in? As for the 'goals from other players', we have Borini and Sterling. Sterling has assisted a bit and has been creating chances. Jury's out on Borini as he just came in and I can be patient.
Suarez has been here for over 18 months and we have been crying out for him to finish better when he's in scoring positions. The tap ins add up and look more better when you're finishing your regular chances, else they'll just be tap-ins.
If you think he's doing fine and there's absolutely no need for him to up his game/scoring rate, then good luck to you.Patience when teased often, transforms into rage

Was just a typical Downing performance really mate. Came on after about 60mins and you could easy forget he was on the pitch.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Posthaven't seen the game but quite a few posters have said he did well when he came on. have some people perhaps already decided he'll be the scape goat prior to him playing? Of course he's our main goal threat, and he IS our main goal threat whenever he plays. If you're not happy with a ratio of better than a goal every 2 games then you are expecting far too much in my opinion. Some of the best strikers of all time have a record of 1 in 2. And you're not happy with better than that!Originally posted by destinydude View PostWith all due respect, he is our main goal scoring threat. I'm done on this topic. If you think we should sell Suarez then that's your prerogative. I couldn't disagree more. Let's just leave it at that.K ris90210

Source please? Those aren't the figures listed on wikipedia.Originally posted by destinydude View PostAlso, Alves scored 48 in 48 in all and Kezman scored 129 in 176 (.73) and Kuyt at around .65 (106 in 162) or so in his last 4 seasons (his peak). So yes bar Alves, the general rate is at around .66/.7K ris90210

All good strikers at their peak have better ratios overall. Look at Torres' ratio with us in the League or at Fowler's ration at his peak. Suarez is supposed to be at his peak 'now' and his ratio is bad.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostOf course he's our main goal threat, and he IS our main goal threat whenever he plays. He has 17 in 48 (.35) in the League and 24 in 57 (.42) overall for us which is much less than 1 in 2 overall and faar less than 1 in 2 in the League.Patience when teased often, transforms into rage

Suarez has 2 goals in 4 league games this season and 7 in his last 11, yes it would help if he had a better conversion rate, but 1 in 2 is the standar you generally judge a striker by, IMO if other people were chipping in with their share of goals the chances Suarez is missing wouldn't matter so much. The season we signed him (2010-11) he had a poorer scoring record but there were plenty of people chipping in with goals so it didn't matter so much, at present we don't have that. Aside from Suarez, Gerrard is our only real goal threat and playing in a deeper role his threat is deminished significantlyThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Call me greedy but at your peak you should be doing better than 1 in 2 in the League.
Drogba, Henry, Torres, Rooney, Shearer, Folwer etc. all had about .66 or so in their better seasons and that's where Luis should be at being at his peak right now.
He should really be doing better and he isn't. For all the hype he generates, he just doesn't finish the chances he is presented with which is all that counts.Patience when teased often, transforms into rage

Too much negativity here. 4th game in. Tricky tie away to Sunderland. We were much the better side. A bit more luck and we'd have scored a few. Gerrard should have scored, Johnson should have scored, Borini should have scored. OK so its the same problems but I think for learning a new system we are starting to adapt. I was pleased by the whole performance.
