and a lot easier start to the season.

I think its obvious his value has increased and like all transfers it would be dependant on many factors

Such as whether the player wants to go or not (and forgive me I'm sceptical when players pledge their loyalty - once bitten and all that)

Who is available to replace him

Who is spending the money (I wouldnt trust Dalglish with that and even Rodgers I'd be hesitant to trust)
We still haven't recovered from selling Xabi more than 3 years ago, I dread to think how long we would be set back by selling Suarez. The money is irrelevant because we would never, ever be able to replace Luis with a player of similar quality when you factor in this club's current situation. No chance.

Individually he is going to be difficult to replace I agree

However do you replace Suarez with one other player or do you buy a number of players whose overall contribution could better that of Suarez.

These are the things what the people at the club would do

Other clubs have sold players for big money and replaced them with a number of players who have improved the general performance level of the team

For instance Spurs sold Berbatov and improved their league position, United sold Ronaldo and have still kept rolling along, Newcastle sold Carroll and improved

The bigger the fee the more you'd have to consider the wider benefits you could possibly gain

That said ideally you'd like to keep him and improve the general level of the squad but when flashed with big money I'm none too convinced that FSG would see it that way

And we sold Alonso, Arbeloa, Torres, Masch and Meireles and have declined terribly.

Arsenal sold RVP, Fabregas, Nasri, Song and Clichy and are steadily declining IMO.

The thing is neither us nor Arsenal have invested all we recouped back into the squads

So there is your lesson to learn from history perhaps

Has to be 60 million. Suarez doesnt have a degenerative knee problem for a start ;-)

Or 50 million plus sturridge. If we replace him with sturridge and 2 top class attacking players - a striker and an attacking midfielder then its something I would go for.

We were definitely tired (looking) and a point was not a bad result. Today Arsenal were 'tired' if Wenger is to be believed and they lost at home, by two goals, whereas we managed to keep the Mighty Michu very subdued.

                  Swings and perspectives I guess.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
