Being a striker he's the focal point but in a team that no longer needs one. Klopp has worked out a system which is armed with four constant threats, not one or two. As such Sturridge in the side would actually be a hindrance which sounds odd but his skill set is not comfortable with Klopps multi-angled organised "chaos" tactics. Firmino, Coutinho, Mane and Lallana have been coached to work as four mobile units that exist within the system both separately and as a unit in phased attacks. Moving the play higher, deeper, to the left and right but not all following the ball as players peel away or drop off the point of possession only to pop up in space or indeed where space is at a premium to get the flick or made the step over/dummy run. Primarily Sturridge wants the ball played to feet in space (though nt with too much pace these days) and that doesn't fit.Originally posted by fred_plasticine View Posti think he doesn't fit quite in at the moment. he seems to be making the runs for himself, not to create space for others. he looks frustrated if he doesn't get the ball. he tends to slow our play down. i think he doesn't yet get that he's not our main attacking outlet anymore and that he's got to run, move and hassle for the team first and foremost.
No one is missing Sturridge and it's a good thing.

And he'd have the same problem at arsenal I'd have thought.
At euros he played deeper for England in one match and played well. He's got a throuhh ball in him I hadn't seen before. Lost pace not exposed. Opportunities from around the box. Late runs into the box. A position that would suit him - but not sure at Liverpool if h can't put th shift in.

I wouldn't worry. There's a golden rule that when a striker leaves Liverpool, his career turns to mush.Originally posted by fah-q View PostI don't want him to leave anyway but certainly not to a rival. I think he'd significantly upgrade Arsenal's attack.
Rush
Fowler
Collymore
Owen
Torres
Only Suarez is the exception that proves the rule.Oh I don't know.

I dont think we would let him go mid-season. In reality if it cost us top-4 at the expense of Arsenal then it would cost us more than we make from the transfer. And that would just be the financial impact - there is also the sporting impact (which would further impact the financial side)
I wouldn't be surprised to see Sturridge leave next summer though. Especially if he goes through the whole season without establishing himself as the undisputed #1 striker at the club.

Kevin Keegan did alright after leaving us. Not as shining a career as with us but not rubbish either. His own playing form after leaving us was pretty good.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

And John Aldridge. The goals did not dry up for him after leaving.
Although I guess it depends on how one wants to grade being a success as a striker after leaving us. On goals scored and playing performances then Suarez, Keegan and Aldridge did well.
If it is based on silverware then Suarez and Torres did well after leaving.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Come on Balotelli scored more in two weeks with Nice than he did in his whole time here, Aspas is tearing it up in La Liga again, Carroll scores whenever he is fit, Lambert did all right at West Brom and nGog......wellOriginally posted by dom9 View PostI wouldn't worry.
