I think it was always clear Daniel Sturridge had the ability, after all he did debut at a very young age. Everytime he got a proper run of starts in his career he produced, at bolton and under AVB unfortunately he was at two clubs who much prefer to buy somebody from abroad than consider promoting from within. It said it all that di matteo was sacked because he dropped Torres for Sturridge, he wasn't given a fair chance imo and extremely rarely was he given a start up top rather than wide. He is finally getting a chance now and is showing some of his potential but I think there is even more to come from him in terms of development.

There was clear contact, but he made too much of it. Had he gone down without the ridiculous swan dive, I would have been saying that it was a penalty. Even the normally vacuous and controversy-dodging supporter of the establishment Alan Shearer was saying that he didn't think it was a dive on MOTD 2 last night.

I think it's the most wrong I've ever been about a player too. He's already proved he has way more about him than I'd given him credit for. ****ing way more. I thought he had ability but zero game intelligence, head down greedy ****er and an erratic finisher. Christ. He looks seriously impressive, that was a properly brilliant centre forward display today.

Exactly the same Massively underestimated him. Was pretty dead set against us signing him. Had no idea he had so much about his game. He's also quicker than I thought he was.
