I'm wondering if it's maybe a similar scenario to Torres.
It could be that the medical staff's opinion is that he's either highly likely to continue to be repeatedly injured, or go downhill rapidly because of his past injuries, like we saw with Torres.

If so, then selling for big money now would probably be the right decision again.

If not, then I'd hope we keep him.

I would be very shocked if PSG are genuinely in for him at £45m. Amazing goalscorer when fit but it's a huge gamble for someone with his injury record.

      I think it's bollocks.

PSG can afford the risk, hell they bought David Luis didn't they?

Moura in Sturridge out, Gotze in Benkete out would be a amazing upgrade if finding that one other player (much as I'd like to think Firmino, Origi and Ings can be the striker choices we'd still need someone else) What's Veitto doing these days? He needs rescuing from Atletico by the looks of it. Simeone's bitty tactical set up is unsuited to a quick striker

I'd prefer to keep him - but I wouldn't be gutted to see him go like I was with torres or suarez, in fact probably hurt more to me losing owen, fowler, Alonso, mascherano in terms of emotional attachment if that makes sense.

Way I see it is, we defo need one top class, hard working, reliable striker who can score goals. I'd say ideal scenario is to sign say that auyambening lad from Dortmund, and have origi/ings/firminho providing cover and competition, and then keeping Sturridge as a luxury - getting 20 goals from 25 games out of him .

But in theory, say we managed to sign Reus and Auyamebing and it cost us £100m - and we sell ballotelli (£10m), Benteke (£20m) and could get £50m for sturridge then I'd be pretty tempted....

Net cost of around £20m odd for attacking options....

            Firminho
            Coutinho
            Reus
            Lallana
            Ibe
            Origi
            Ings
            Auyembaningaian

            Looks pretty healthy to me....

            all in theory tho

Completely agree. Plan to be without him and revel in his brilliance for however many games he's available for.

                And this.

He's in the top echelon of strikers so I wouldn't sell him lightly and I really can't see who we could realistically get in whose in that bracket. As Shaggy says, unless there's a break down I wouldn't sell him and as Buzzo says, theres no chance he should be allowed to go elsewhere in the Premier league so PSG would be ideal.

Knowing us we'd probably sell him and get someone young and unproven which will bring us back to square one.

i would keep him. hes genuine quality when hes on his game and we need more of that not less.

if he's happy to stay we should keep him.

i wanted sturridge before we were even linked with him, loved his play and directness.
also been pissed off with his being out of the side for extended periods too...
maybe he has taken the piss a bit not wanting to push himself and return early.

you could sympathise with his caution, but when the medical staff and manager have had enough of his being a pussy and call him out for it then you have to wonder if his time is up.
we all know what he 'could' bring to the team, but in my opinion he looks like he is cruising and waiting for an exit option.

he hasnt like being fingered by klopp [maybe missing zaf] and is semi-sulking.
its a great shame, but first and foremost i support LFC and players come and go.

If gonna always play with one striker then keeping him may a big problem.

I don't know how some people get the impression that he's cruising but it's a false one. It's just his style. It's very clear that he is struggling at times in games at the moment, due to him not being completely match fit.

Also, we have to consider his style. He's not really someone who runs and runs to close down defenders, like Luis used to do. He needs a foil besides him.

If Klopp is too dogmatic about how he wants to play the game, then he won't fit it longer term and we won't be able to do anything about it, but I think this will be a shame. He needs to try to accommodate him so as to accomplish his pressing game as much as he can as a fully fit and firing Sturridge is a world class player who will score and create goals for others. That kind of player isn't the type you just "go out and replace" in the transfer market.

Klopp will need to address this.
