I was just relieved we got through, that it didn't go to replay and I can enjoy watching Cheltenham knock Everton out tomorrow without being bitter about LFC not being in the competition.

The whole point or draw of the FA Cup is for upsets in the early rounds. This one was a potential **** up for Liverpool, so at least we got through it.

True, it's just a shame all the headlines tomorrow will about how little Mansfield were cheated out of a replay by the nasty mr Suarez and his merry men from merseyside.

This evening I sat down with my son to watch an FA Cup game. He is only 3, I've spent his entire life telling him about the magic of the cup, non league opposition usurping the greats of the English game, the terraces, the muddy pitches, the sausage rolls. I told him the FA Cup was all that's good in the world.

We sat down to watch, Sturridge scored, not the end of the world, they can still get back into the game. As the game went on we began to hope, believe, and then Suarez scored. We didn't believe it as first, did he really do that? They showed the replay, we didn't want to believe it. But it dawned on us he used his hand. My son turned to me, with a solitary tear rolling down his cheek he told me that he didn't know what to believe in anymore, he was crushed. Why does Evil always win Dad? How could someone be so cruel?

He removed his replica shirt and went up to bed. He didn't even want to see the ending. Thanks Luis.

We're through to the next round though, and that's all that matters on a day like this. Also a positive that Sturridge scored on his debut and showed good movement.

Really not worth over-analysing it, plenty of top sides struggle in games like this - that's exactly why it was picked for TV, they could smell an upset (or at least a scrappy hard fought cup-tie like they got). As long as we got through it means nothing in the big scheme of things.

I know that comment is ridiculous and we're supposed to laugh but that drives me mad. Likening a dubious handball in the 3rd round of the FA Cup to "Evil" is preposterous. Shame on the father for building up a football match to the point where his young, impressionable child feels he is witnessing true cruelty. That is, if he's not making the whole thing up to exploit the perceptions of others in order to fulfill some personal desire to make a footballer he dislikes look like Satan.

I know it's not meant to be taken seriously but it just kind of ****s me off when legitimately awful things are happening in this world.

Hard to tell really on the intent, although, it does look like he pats the ball down to a nice spot to slot it.

Of course you have. The only bit of that sentence that my 3 year old would give a toss about would be the mention of sausage rolls. He doesn't even know that football exists beyond a kick about in the garden. Typical pretentious pseudo-intellectual competitive dad.

As if any 3 year old gives a flying ****. I sat down with my 3 year old to watch it, but after about 5 minutes he got up and ****ed off to play with his toys.
