I think you have managed to over simplify the position. Benteke and Sturridge are completely different, and the system will suit any striker who has a bit of pace and presses high up the pitch. Sturridge absolutely has everything needed to play the position adequately, but we are struggling with injuries and missing key players which has ruined a lot if our fluidity and incisiveness

If we sell Sturridge, it will be because of injury or form, and not because his style does not suit.

Well I disagree completely and the stats back up my opinion. Put all our forwards into a comparison site and you'll see he contributes next to nothing outside of scoring goals (and he hasn't even been doing that this season).

Or just watch any game this season that Sturridge has started this season. He's getting game time off past glories IMO, something I hate but I don't think it'll continue with Klopp.

I'd be amazed if he's still in the squad next season.

I know he was **** last night, but people are getting a bit carried away. In his last 3 league games he came on against Everton and made the winner, came on against Stoke and scored, started against Sunderland and scored. He came off the bench against Plymouth and was the best player on the park for his short cameo. Hardly surprising to see him start last night and as crap as he was, he got very little service.

On my part it isn't a knee jerk based on last night but more an observation over this season. Probably our best finisher but we're at our best when we high press and attack with a fluid three. I don't think that is Sturridge's game anymore.

Also, and crucially he simply can't be relied over the course of a season and I don't think he'll accept a sub role.

Apparently he is about to sign (possibly prior to tonight) a new 5 yr contract, worth something like 190k to 200k per week.

I know contracts don't mean that much compared to other factors if a player wishes to leave, the buying club etc etc, but this would be a great signal of intent if it pans out.
We pay top wages for top players.

Not to mention we protect our investment if a sale comes to pass.

Really would love to see someone ahead of him of equal class. Firmino is great but more like an world class striker, being greedy. Mane, Firmino, A.N other with Coutinho supplying bullets.
