How long does it take to build a winning team then? We've added only Salah as a serious first team player this year, if we don't get Keita or Van Dijk that will be it. If we were willing to offer so much for those two, I'm pretty sure we consider them necessary, but for some reason we think they are the only two suitable players in the world so we'll just buy nobody else. We sold Lucas too, so if anything we're one man short in central defense. To me that's very little progress in one year, barely squad building. At this rate it'll take us three more seasons to build a squad capable of challenging in serious competitions (let me remind you, last year's team wasn't even capable to do it without Europe) - can we afford to wait that long with vultures constantly flying over our best players? Half the people are already resigned to losing Coutinho next summer, Can's contract extension nowhere to be seen... Let's hope they're the only two, and not also guys like Mane, Matip.
Honest question, how do you see us winning the league? In my opinion we add a quality CB, midfielder and winger this summer, and we do it now. Or we add nobody and finish 3rd to 6th, lose Coutinho and Can next year, replace some positions but still a few players short, rinse repeat.
Wonder if the FSG statement was more aimed at Coutinho and his agent rather than at Barcelona, an "agitate for a move all you like, you signed a contract and we ain't selling you" statement.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.
