Messi is Messi but he's getting older though and the same with Suarez, they failed to plan ahead seriously, they probably needed to sign Coutinho last summer really and keep hold of Alves.
Barca are going to have a serious problem when Messi slows down and isn't racking up the numbers he has been. The have neglected to improve their defence and midfield and have relied on the 3 lads up front to win them games. Now the rot has set in, massive few weeks for them now and I'm very curious to see who they bring in.

Maybe Pepe Guardiola had the foresight to see what was coming & bailed out the earliest opportunity when the offer from Bayern landed on his door...

"Liverpool is not a club that has to sell players,” he said. “That is set in stone. So what they pay in the end doesn't matter.
"From a financial standpoint, there is no price limit to let him go. No price at which we are ready to give in.
"Our goal is to have the best possible team. So we want to keep our guys and add new ones. That is our plan."
Klopp added: “Today, no player on the planet is untouchable. But a transfer is also a question of timing and if you have the opportunity and the need to react to such a transfer.
"Also you have to ask, if you have the time to react. But just because of one request of one club, we don't have to think about that. We are not in that situation."

Very encouraging words. Now if we could only concentrate on the second part of that 3rd paragraph, it would be mint.

Barca have had a bid for Dembele rejected, another low ball offer.

Coutinho to miss Watford though through injury, as is Sturridge... but no surprise with the latter.

No matter how much money we would get for Phil, with the inflation added to the value of players value that we try to sign because they know how much cash we have it will be difficult to really replace him with a player of the same quality

Barca are suffering from this now. Everyone knows they have 200 mill in the bank and really need a replacement so as a selling club everyone is going to try and extract stupid money.

Ask what was Coutihno worth before the signing of Neymar and what is he worth now? Liverpool would be in the same situation. Sell coutihno now for 120m and suddenly Lanzini is worth 90m...

                Supply and demand...
Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

As we dicussed earlier, Barca would have got nowhere near 190m for Neymar after loyalties and agents (his dad) and taxes, probably about £130m ish. But yeah - i get your point.

He's going nowhere. I am pretty much relaxed about it. They can shout whatever they want (Barcelona) and people on twitter can say whatever they want.
                    Are we winning?

I tend to agree with you, Klopp has been pretty unequivocal about Coutinho leaving.

we don't need to sell him and won't but I think the thing that I got from those quotes was, actually the fee might be attractive - if we could reinvest it - which we can't..
                        Really?

and of course Lallana, yet the team will still look like it has lots of goals in it. That's a type of progress.

Drop that talk of Lanzini - its Luan - or Lucas Moura, who in any case should replace Couth..

My gut instinct is that doing a deal for next summer is a good compromise for everyone. Hopefully then we can get Keita + 1 to fill the void.

                                FSG statement on Philippe Coutinho

We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.

The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.
