Everyone has a price. But we allegedly have a few quid and spending big this summer anyway. I see no benefit in selling COutinho on a gamble that Brandt/Reus/ or whoever could come in and hit the ground running.

We should be adding to quality this summer not asset stripping.

We are in a good bargaining position, we don't have to sell, no clause, possibly/likely CL footy, we are not broke, 100 million or keep him for another season. Iniesta is playing at least for another season anyway.
        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

if you were Barca, then Coutinho would be the top of my list alright. He just seems a perfect fit for that club - he seems a nice guy, plays the right way and is all about the football.

I am not sure they have the cash for PC though......aren't they spending a fortune updating the Nou Camp???

I think if Coutinho was going to go to Barca, then their asshole transfer tactics would have started by now....

What i would like to see though is us play him deeper next season. If Coutinho did go to Barca, then he wouldn't be played on the left of a front 3. He would be on the left of a middle 3. Remember when Brendan played him in midfield next to Henderson with Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling all ahead of him? For me that is where PC will be most effective..... it is where Barca would play him as well.

By building a new state of the art training complex, expanding the Kop, increasing disabled provision and facilities (albeit far too late), building a club superstore outside the ground, relocating fan parks to larger spaces around the vicinity of the ground, and carefully considering the economics of expanding the Anfield Road end, beyond even the capacity specified in the outline planning application.

              Obvious really.
              Oh I don't know.

Well when you put it like that it's obvious really.

Aye but other than that what did FSG ever do for us?
                      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

All of which needs to be repaid via inter-co loans

FSG aren't actually paying for these in return for equity shareholding - They will borrow the cash and re-lend it at favourable rates within the company (NESN/FSG) Either way it aint free investment.
I make no apologies, this is me

                              It's not asset stripping either.

And a 1.25% interest rate or whatever it is, is not a bad way of borrowing either.
                              Oh I don't know.

It doesn't make sense to sell even at 60-70m, you don't sell your best players! He doesn't want to leave, he's not even hit his peak yet, selling in the hope that you can bring in one or two quaility players to improve the squad is a massive gamble and rarely works at the top level. Look at the players we've sold in recent years have the fees we received been of more value than the player we sold, in most cases the answer is no.

I guess there will be a price where we will sell regardless, that is the point at which you are being offered stupid money, that price for Coutinho would IMO have to be a world record transfer fee, unless he puts in a transfer request or his contract runs down, then we would probably have to accept less.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
