the coutinho camp have had an absolute shocker on this one. It seems so unlike him, I think it will have him a bit rattled and the road back between him and klopp wont be easy but then 9th september his usual city goal and all will be ok with the world

Surely they didn't. Suarez did it with Arsenal and 99% of the club forgave him straight away. Why wouldn't Coutinho's management?

And you do that by adding to what you've got and not selling off the Crown Jewels each season.

“Stay here and they will end up building a statue in your honour," Coutinho said back in May.

“Go somewhere else, to Barcelona, to Bayern Munich, to Real Madrid, and you will be just another player. Here you can be something more. I have a long contract with Liverpool.”

Ah, I was right after all

It seems a massive change of thought, moreso given that we've since qualified for the CL playoffs and have pretty good stability in the camp. It's really ironic that stars sometimes cite a lack of ambition by clubs as their reason for wanting to leave, what the **** do they think their departure will have on the squad!

I don't think he had any intention of leaving this year until Barca's hands were forced with Neymar.

His duty is to us though, their plight shouldn't have made any difference to him unless it was his intention to go there the moment they came calling. It means his other comments were totally hollow

So to confirm, as of last night, their offer for Phil has been withdrawn?
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Was expecting a whole host of tweets around this from Barca Media.

Also, didn't see any tweets around "Coutinho to be unveiled in the morning" news last week.

Honestly, it would have been better if Barca Media worked on the Game of Thrones storylines, I would be fully engaged.

Thats Balagues tweet. So nothing is lost in translation.

Good. Now lets get on with signing Von Disch or however you pronounce it.

Wonder will Klopp make an example of Coutinho now and leave him out in the cold? If we didn't need him so badly I would love for this to happen but unfortunately our midfield likes ****e without him and the team are far stronger with him in the side.

He's an absolute little toad for the way he has gone about things but he's a fabulous player ...that's footballers for you, zero loyalty. Klopp doesn't seem like the forgiving type so it will be interesting to see what way he will treat Coutinho. Does he bring him back asap for the good of the team? Would other team members be pissed off with Phil coming straight back in after the disrespect he has shown the club? Does Klopp freeze him out to the detriment of the side?

I hope us keeping Coutinho is not the success story and focus of our transfer window. This is not a win, we need more players added the the first 11. Hopefully if we win tonight and cement our place in the champs league proper, things might start to move.
