Bored to death with this saga now - Don''t blame him for wanting to go to Barca but they haven't covered themselves in glory over this. Question, if a club needs permission to talk to a player or be done for tapping up and we had no intention of selling, why did we give Barca permission to talk to Coutinho?

There's going to be a price we're prepared to sell at and we're getting close to it. Think we'd deal at £120mOriginally posted by dom9 View Post

Eh....aside from the repeated statements from the club that he's not for sale?Originally posted by greenturnip View PostYeah. If you were cynical you might think that Barcelona are being given a little encouragement by somebody to keep bidding, or not enough signs of complete rejection...

Statements from the Owners and Klopp, instant refusal of all bids, not even agreeing to any negotiations with Barca.Originally posted by greenturnip View PostYeah. From everything that is out there I can't see how they can be encouraged.

eh, i don't think we'll deal this late in the window. not for an important player. no chance we'd be able to replace him. a deal like that takes preparation work. you've got to draw up a whole new plan for the campaign, plan your transfer work, etc. the fact that we've missed out on 2/3 of our targets isn't going to make accepting a late bid for him any easier.dave of mutilation

Also, we'd get shafted on the cost of any half decent target we'd go for, so the 'too good to refuse' offer for Cout becomes relative.
