Bored to death with this saga now - Don''t blame him for wanting to go to Barca but they haven't covered themselves in glory over this. Question, if a club needs permission to talk to a player or be done for tapping up and we had no intention of selling, why did we give Barca permission to talk to Coutinho?

There's going to be a price we're prepared to sell at and we're getting close to it. Think we'd deal at £120m

Sky have added a soundtrack to the saga...

Yeah. If you were cynical you might think that Barcelona are being given a little encouragement by somebody to keep bidding, or not enough signs of complete rejection...

Eh....aside from the repeated statements from the club that he's not for sale?

£130m all cash up front and I think we'll deal. This bollocks of add-ons payable when he wins his first Bafta award or Nobel peace prize if taking the piss.

Statements from the Owners and Klopp, instant refusal of all bids, not even agreeing to any negotiations with Barca.

From everything that is out there I can't see how they can be encouraged.

Given FSG's statement on the website about Coutinho (that remained there for about 48 hours) it would be mightily embarrassing to sell now. But something feels wrong.

Everyone is for sale, it just comes down to price !
Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but does not actually get you anywhere.

eh, i don't think we'll deal this late in the window. not for an important player. no chance we'd be able to replace him. a deal like that takes preparation work. you've got to draw up a whole new plan for the campaign, plan your transfer work, etc. the fact that we've missed out on 2/3 of our targets isn't going to make accepting a late bid for him any easier.

Also, we'd get shafted on the cost of any half decent target we'd go for, so the 'too good to refuse' offer for Cout becomes relative.
