Barcelona can sod off with their add ons, we saw in the summer what they were trying. Any add ons have to be realistic and not piss takes like last time, I would be looking at £150m up front plus add ons and he doesn't leave until the summer.

Sorry, I don't get this 'I would accept £x', 'no less than £y up front' business. Apart from being unqualified to accurately assess value, what difference does it make to us whether we sell him for £10m more or less than a random piece of media speculation? The club will get what they can. Will this stop us buying one of our targets? Is it a pride thing, the higher the figure the less embarrassing it is to be forced to sell? The higher the figure the more that is available for reinvestment. Given recent transfers I'd value Coutinho around the £150m mark but as I said earlier there is no way Barcelona have anywhere near that money sloshing around (their wage bill is catastrophic), I could actually see him ending up at PSG but they've sailed so far above and beyond the FFP regulations they are loaning M'bappe this season.

As for the upfront argument, I don't get that either with amortisation and the way large transfer fees are structured generally (ie before oil money started pouring in) it doesn't make a lot of difference IMO. No way are Barcelona are paying 120 million up front, as far as I know they won't have it.

The absence of Coutinho with a thigh injury served to stoke the intrigue surrounding his future, coming, as it did, after the Nike advert offering Barcelona shirts with the Brazilian’s name emblazoned across the back which had appeared via a link on the Catalan club’s official website.
Liverpool do not expect him to be out for long but, equally, will know he did not play at all in August when the transfer window had been last open due to a back injury.
No deal has been agreed for Coutinho and Liverpool must resist any temptation to let him leave in January. Striking a transfer now but which grants Coutinho his wish to move in the summer would be the only acceptable solution because the second half of the campaign cannot be jeopardised.

The only way we should sell him in January would be if some other club was nuts enough to sell us a top class or world class player in January.
And the sort of player I am talking about would be a Dybala or Veratti (the latter being a different sort of player to Coutinho but easily a massive upgrade to our first team). Basically a player good enough to step right into our first team and look as good or better than our best.
The chances of us getting such a player in January would be close to zero, so the chances of us selling a player of that sort of quality in January should also be close to zero.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

If we signed these two with Coutinho money + some that would be one of the greatest pieces of business the club has done. Not that it would happen unfortunatelyOriginally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostThe only way we should sell him in January would be if some other club was nuts enough to sell us a top class or world class player in January.
