Agreed with LFCHistory. Downing put in a good shift to ensure the in-form Podolski didn't impact the game too much. While offering the outlet in front of a young, and frankly unskilled, right back.
[QUOTE=BigChief;2562039]It wasn't the balls in the air that troubled us but the absence of Lucas in the heart of our midfield. The amounts of time Ramsay/Wilshere/Cazorla just picked the ball up and walked, not even ran, to our penalty area was eye-watering.
But these are vital games for him and hopefully Lucas is getting back to full form. We'll need him by the close of season. Just wasn't at the races today, ironically Gerrard was doing the donkey's work.[/QUOTE
Agreed. We conceded midfield badly. The main issue was Lucas, who was surprisingly poor. Needs to get on that treadmill more. I thought Rodgers should have ditched Downing and brought on Joe Allen to try to keep the ball or stem the tide through midfield. What exactly was Downing doing second half, standing on the wing looking on. Henderson was providing great support for Suarez and Sturridge. Think we would have won the game with that substitution.
Well. I didn't get to watch the match because I had a million other things to do, but all things considered, a point at the Emirates isn't so bad. We are still 7th with the draw. Would've been nice to be level on points with Arsenal, especially since we've still got City at the Etihad, but whatever. Could be worse. The rest of our difficult fixtures are at Anfield after we go to City, so the race for fourth is still technically viable. And I really didn't expect us to be in the mix at all going into this season.
Anyway, perspective isn't really appreciated around here, but I thought I would give my two cents
You were making out that just because they were playing at home, it was a cert they were going to put us under pressure...
No team playing at home, is guaranteed to hold an advantage against the opposition..
Might be, might not be, I don't really know. But I don't think whatever height difference there is is a good reason for Agger to think he doesn't have a chance of jumping against Giroud.

Well yes, at a certain stage during a game away from home that was bound to happen. Aston Villa didn't put us under pressure though. It was one flukey win.
