The EL is not a bad competition despite all the bad press it gets in Britain. Its a good opportunity for the youngsters in the earlier rounds and if you get further, great.

I mean, wouldnt it be nice to be playing a game tonight against a decent European side with a chance of a final and cup down the road. Instead of saving ourselves for the mighty Reading to make sure we might finish sixth instead of seventh.

Indeed. We'd love to be in it but it may help us in the League if we dont qualify. Not sure whats wrong with that and I'd bet a lot of the ones whining are the same ones saying **** like "I'll fall asleep", "this competition is ****ing ****", "we are mad if we play any first teamers here" before every Europa game.

Spot on. Its just some like having a go at anything he says. I remember even in this campaign he was slated when he picked Gerrard and/or Suarez in Europa League games as it is a **** comp. Now he is slated for saying he wants to be in it but isnt the end of the world if we dont make it. Its ****ing bizarre

Indeed. We've been out of Europe for two months now, and we still managed to get beaten by Southampton and take a draw against West Ham. Our only convincing win since we left Europa was 4-0 against Wigan.

The way I see it, is most people are saying we can't judge Rodgers because he's only had one season. Kenny only had six more months than Rodgers has had so far, yet he regained the Europa that Hodge lost us, won a trophy and got us in to the FA Cup final. Why can't we judge Rodgers by these same standards? It's not that different a timespan.

Although we also beat the 3rd best team in the league at the time in Spurs as well as coming from a goal behind against Villa to win 2-1.

We're a team in rebuild both in personnel and in style of play hence players like Skrtel have been cut adrift.

IMO Rodgers is actually being realistic we might not get Europa League and he's saying as much I'd bet my right nut though in his mind he wants to do everything we can to qualify for it though
