As for the Europa League - I'd love to be in it next season as it's a European competition, it's more games to watch, and it's another trophy we can aim to win.

However, I also completely agree with the notion that not being in it may benefit us in the league next season. I just can't see how that is such a bad thing for Rodgers to have said.

I think people need to remember that he doesn't just sit down and decide he's going to setup an interview so he can say these things. He's surely asked these questions by an interviewer and responds honestly - whether it's what we all want to hear or not.
Yeah I mentioned exactly that yesterday. The way people go on here you'd think he calls these press conferences himself and randomly just starts talking about these subjects. I'm pretty sure he would have been asked about European qualification and this is what he replied. His reply is actually correct.

He said he wants to be in it, the club wants to be in it. But if we don't make it, it's not the end of the world and can allow us to focus on the league. The fans have said the same for years about the Europa League and he was roundly criticised when he played the likes of Luis or Gerrard in the Europa League games this season

On Mourinho, years ago I was one of the people who said he'd be a good manager for us. But he has plummeted to new depths of dick'ness since then. He falls out with players and it really grates me the love-in he has with opposition managers nowadays. With all us throwing the toys out of the pram over some random Rodgers comments, could you imagine the reaction if we won at Old Trafford under Jose and he turns round and hugs Fergie, walks down the tunnel before the whistle and then goes onto say the best team lost.

True but if he brought success to LFC, fans would change their minds about him very quickly. Fans are fickle & all that...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!
