Meanwhile, Ayre is getting a right jovial kicking in the Aspas thread..............

Largely for what he is thought to have done or not done. That's the difference.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Yes, it is. It's the whole point in one, easy-to-understand sentence.

Lots. It's human nature, and since we know nothing alse about Sharon it's just first impression stuff. No malice intended and I'd imagine she was built of strong enough stuff that she'd be able to handle it too.

I'm not sure that people usually intend malice when they are casually using stereotypes about gender (or race or whatever). That doesn't stop it being something that people should be called on (it also doesn't make the person irredeemably bad).

I would suggest that in general the interactions you describe could be characterized as someone not interested in a something looking to find common ground or a foothold in a subject area they know someone else likes. In the case of the LFC forum when a new director comes to the club the debate usually spuriously links their experience in a previous job in say Japan to how they will make us bazillions of dollars or how they ****ed up signing the wrong 12 year old playmaker in 1999. This is usually based on little real knowledge and they are normally a man. In this case we get a very different response, I would suggest because it is a woman.

Yeah, but it's not as funny as having a chuckle regarding his apparent likeness to a new signing, and then running with said joke.
Wonder if Ayre would feel slighted to any degree ?

The comparison with Ayre and Aspas is not the same mate. There's something about a witty joke between two physically similar chaps and pot shots at someone's physique.

Does adding that I probably would help?

I guess I am irredeemably bad.

As are most jokes regarding people's appearances, comments around other's appearances for the purpose of raising a smirk.
That's all well and good for the likes of people of forums, but maybe Ayre would feel its unfair to make jokes regarding his appearance.
Maybe Ayre would feel slighted more than the Tuff one would regarding some of the things put up here ? I've no idea, and neither do any of you.

Quite frankly, I don't care one jot that we've appointed a woman in the role, if she's up to the job, then fair enough. The same would go for any fella appointed in the same position. Frankly its a relatively uninteresting position for discussion, which is why this thread has attracted next to nothing in discussion presumably.
She should get no more or less jokes put forward about her than everyone of this site has felt comfortable about posting about any other employee before.
Lets just not try to spin arguments out of control, or make things out to be more than what they are.
If we are, then I'm afraid we should implement the same degree of high-horsing throughout the site IMO.

I get it, I just regard it as mild naughtiness that need not be dwelled upon.
