Been a bit of a discussion about him in the Skrtel thread saying he doesn't help the defence as he's too rooted to his line & isn't vocal/commanding & aggressive enough

      I'd move him on personally...

I won't move him on, but look to bring in another more experienced keeper, more vocal and commanding. I'd give him the chance to improve. Not sure he's got the personality though - he does look like the 'gentle giant' type.

He likes the new goalkeeper kit though...........don't think we'd find another keeper who does.

          He stays.

Makes great saves but is not commanding in the box, bit of a flapper & his distribution is pretty awful.

It's hard to know whether to give him another season or move him on, would depend on replacement i suppose. For me... Begovic was who we should have went for.

He 100% has been a part of the problem with our defence. Was listening to Carra & Neville talking few weeks ago about keepers. They were saying how important it was to have a commanding keeper behind them... who came for balls & how much pressure it took off them.

A number of factors have contributed to our **** defence, unfortunately for us when you have so many injuries, new players & players under performing in a single defence... it's not a good thing.

Anyways not sure whether it would be wise to move him on...or to keep him

Keeper see the game all the time. So yeah, it's crucial that their organisational skills are spot on, especially with the way we play.

Young players should always be given only one season to prove themselves, if they aren't perfect from day 1 they should be shipped out ASAP, **** patience.
Henderson, Sterling, Allen and Flanagan should all have been sold long ago because they took time to settle what the **** is Brendan and Ayre thinking ?!?!

Mignolet is 26 and already has had 3 season in the league before coming to us. I'd give him time, but maybe what we need him to show consistently for us, he just hasn't got those skills.

we need to send mignolet on a training course with the army and a bit of boxing to encourage him to be a bit more aggressive and authoritative.

Had a decent season anyway, solve the problem infront of him and by magic he'll suddenly look a lot better, exactly like Reina did last season when Carra come back in the team.

I better not be making a habit of agreeing with you!

You could put Neuer, Casillas or Cech in our goal but with a back 4 that includes Skrtel, Johnson and Kolo it will make little difference we'll still concede too many. Sort out the back 4 and Mignolet will be fine long term.

Random. He didnt have that many howlers .

If i had four defenders in front of me running all over the shop, left right and centre, Id have minimal confidence either.

He is a top shot stopper. Would have preferred Begovic but thats gone

We need to look at replacing 3 of our back 4 before looking at the goalkeeper. Skrtel, Johnson and Agger. None good enough to win title

I don't disagree that our defence is dodgy at times and if we can improve them great, but this not good enough to win the league is bollocks. We came within one game of winning the league and the Chelsea defeat wasn't down to any of those three players.

Trying to find a dominate centre back that can also pose a threat in the opposition box and be a leader and organiser is harder than finding a decent keeper. Sakho is quick, can tackle, is comfortable on the ball (despite his awkward appearance), can pass the ball however he isn't dominate in the air and he is doesn't appear to be a leader. Lets hope he grows into the role. I assume he is definitely here to stay.
