Very strange and very bad. Its starting to look like he's finger pointing to deflect attention away from himself. His tactics have contributed to the shell of a goalkeeper that Mignolet has become.

That would cup lad hasn't been able to get into the Malaga team. There was a reason he was in a free in the summer, his previous French team, ligue 2 I believe, never played him either.

The idea was that the skills required could be coached in to Mignolet, not sure it's wholly either's fault for it not working out. Trouble is that it's not just the short ball passing that Mignolet has shown he's unable to learn, there are more glaring weaknesses in his game, like catching, punching and throwing

Jones was a shambles yesterday but at least when the ball was bouncing in the box with no one near him he caught it. I've seen Migs let the ball go out of play in similar situations as he's ****ting himself so much.

              LFC goalkeeping coach, john achterberg

John Achterberg joined Liverpool's backroom staff in June 2009 after making the short trip across the Mersey from Wirral neighbours Tranmere Rovers.
The Dutchman spent more than 10 years at Prenton Park as a player and, latterly, a goalkeeping coach.
Signed by Kop legend John Aldridge in September 1998 from Dutch outfit FC Utrecht, he went on to make over 250 appearances for Rovers and was an extremely popular figure among the supporters.
Former Aston Villa and Tranmere manager Brian Little described Achterberg as "the most professional player" he ever worked with.
Now he puts this professionalism to good use looking after the club's stoppers after being appointed first-team goalkeeping coach in the summer of 2011.

Not really, just another sign that Brendan is losing his mind. I can't remember him ever publicly criticising player when things were going well.
Also his comment that he was the only man who could succeed with Livepool was similar to Hodgson's ''no one could do better with this group of players'' comment.

                    should be dropped

but shouldn't have been dropped for this game. Bournemouth or Arsenal would have been better from a man management point of view (unless Brendan has decided he's off in January)

He's poxy but yeh it was the wrong game to drop him & Rodgers comments about him weren't good.

I have no idea whether he is any good.
Not played, Carlos Kameni has been in excellent form. Quite an odd situation. History repeating itself. Kameni was signed, but couldn't get a game as Caballero was in good form, and now the same has happened to Ochoa.

Jones can be forgiven for being a bit rusty, he's never really had a run in the side to prove himself.

In an ideal world, neither he or Mignolet will be in goal after January

Surprised Rodgers didn't field another CM or number 10 instead of Jones.

The short passing game and his distribution have been key to the Brendan approach, but that's not the only thing that's contributed to the destruction of Mignolet.

I think most keepers would suffer if they were stuck behind two headless chicken central defenders like Lovren and Skrtel, who run half way up the pitch and have very little concept of defensive positioning. Tie that in with no defensive midfield presence, no legs in an unbalanced central midfield and no defending from the front and you have a keeper that is wide open and exposed every time a team is on the offensive - not that I'm saying he isn't blameless, but it really hasn't helped. When the goals are flying past him, that's a symptom - you can't expect him not to be affected by the defensive shambles he's put up with every week when he has no solidity in front of him.
