This sort of reminds me of the way we all respond to a come back goal from Studge - he's awesome, we need to keep him, things will only get better, etc. While deep down we know his next long layoff is just around the corner. Same with Mig IMHO; has a burst of good form but you know that the next episode of mental fragility and crap from is in the wings, just waiting for a really damaging part of the season to come about before it emerges. I do acknowledge and appreciate Mig's uptick in form and confidence. I do not think it will last. I still believe a top drawer keeper should be our top priority during the summer.

Yeah. I noticed that as well. I was surprised as I thought he was kicking it out.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostHe played a fantastic long pass to Clyne near the half way line. His kicking will improve too.
He's been brilliant for the last dozen games or so. I'd keep, there's plenty of work to do on the squad without having to disrupt the team further and it seems that Klopp is happy with him as well. As long as he continues this form, consistently.

I think he's really made it difficult for Klopp, who I think was planning on settling Karius back in with the cup games with a view to being number 1 again next season. There is no way that can happen now, Mignolet has been as good as anyone in the league since he's came back in.Vive la France

This is how league winning squads are built. Better players are developed or bought and push down the existing good players who can either improve themselves through competition for their place or sit on the bench.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View Post

Klopp has said something similar - how Karius has pushed Mignolet to be better in training every day and how that has made him better every Saturday.
I agree with the sentiment that if Mignolet had been a January signing to replace Karius, we would all be raving about him right now - and probably pointing to him as one of the main reasons we finish in the top 4 (assuming we do).
We have a lot more pressing positions to sort out before we go looking for a world class goalie.
Hopefully now Karius takes Migs example and knows what he needs to do to get a place in the team. Having 2 keepers keep each other on their toes is a really strong position to be in. If we are in the same position in 12 months time, then it is likely that one of them will want to move on to play 1st team football - at which point it would be great to have Ward ready to come in and compete. For this reason I would look to loan out Ward to a premier league team next season (maybe Huddersfield if they make it through the play-offs).

i also wondered if maybe the goalie coach achterberg was on gardening leave.Originally posted by dww View PostIt's been ages since we have seen a keeper really develop whilst with us. I'd be interested to know if anything has changed behind the scenes.
does anyone know what this manninger guy is like. is he a mentalist?removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Henderson is coming back from Injury but he is pretty consistently good when injury free,
Lovren and Mignolet are not top level players just decent players capable of a sustained run of good form with plenty of **** ups along the way._____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!

I personally rated Pickford highly but haven't seen his save late on but apparently it was very good and saved the win for Everton, While Mig was knocking it into our net!
We won;t get anywhere while Mig remains our number 1_____________________________________

I don't think Mignolet was directly responsible for any of the goals but his inability to dominate his area indirectly contributes and will contribute to more goals this season. The first goal was poorly defended but the question is why are we really that bad at defending or were the defenders expecting Mignolet to deal with it. Unless there is a call which I don't think there was the defence has to deal with it. My problem with Mignolet is he let's the Watford player pin him down and stop him coming for it if he wanted to Mignolet shouldn't let that happen. He needs to be the one in control of the situation. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
