There's a football intelligence involved in booting it up field and he hasn't got it like some of the other top keepers do.
The one outstanding keeper at that is Bravo (his distribution is very good) and he isn't really rated as a good keeper, so you know.

We could probably do better than Mignolet, but I can assure you he won't be the completely rounded keeper we all hope we'll get.
    Are we winning?

It was just an observation from yesterday mate. I'm not asking for the golden chalice of keepers but, as we don't have the tallest of teams or a big man up front, the distribution needs to be more precise.

I still think, in time, Karius will establish himself as number one.

But I'm throwing out there the possibility that one of the reasons our defence struggles is because he doesn't direct/organise/marshal them. I don't think him or karius are strong enough in presence to bark orders out. Take old Red Nose, he made Bruce and Pallister better because he had enormous presence. He would go ape at them. People rarely argued back. For me a keeper is the most important person in the team. It's imperative you get yourself the best one you can possibly afford. A good all round keeper instills confidence. Mig is s good shot stopper, that's not in doubt.

I'm not saying the result is on him, the team had a bad day. I just think that over the season not having a top keeper will be to the detriment of the team.

Before the usual suspects jump in, this is called discussion. It's not a witch hunt. It's putting out there a theory which might be wrong but is my opinion which could also be wrong.

        Thoughts?

Agree with most of that, but on top of not having a commanding/organising keeper we do not have a commanding/organising CB either, and if we move further forward the only midfielder that we have that seems to try and organise/cajole/command on a consistent basis during good and bad games is Can.

Great teams have a number of leaders and organisers in them, we have a dearth of such players in our squad at present.

On form we can sweep theams aside, but when off form or under adversity we have a lot of players who will, and I am reluctant to to say the word hide, take the safe options rather than rolling up the metaphorical sleeves and try to grind out a result or change in performance.

I think that we have a lot of players who still try when things are going badly, but they sometimes go into sort of a damage limitation mode of trying rather than a collective mentality with the aim to turn things around.

Whilst I am not arguing that Henderson comes across as an inspiring captain, Redknapp was the the wet paper bag of captains.

I reckon Henderson is a decent captain. Its easy to point the finger when we get humped, but we've been on a pretty decent run including the end of lat season until yesterday, and I've not had any issues with his captaincy. Gerrard was massively helped as captain by having the likes of Carra, Suarez, Alonso in the team. Henderson has a less experienced team around him, and also a relatively developing team.

Saved 5 of his last 8 pens. He's not good enough but that is an amazing record and he's won the game for us today.

yeah... but a better keeper wouldnt have given that pen

Maybe, maybe not. But you cannot argue his record and he doesn't give them all away - it's phenomenal.
